How to post (or convert so i can post) a .3gp video?

I have a couple good videos taken with my guys cell phone on my computer. Id like to post them as is or edit frames so i can make still images or .gifs out of them.

I have googled this subject and have found a converter to convert common video files to .3gp .. but none to convert from this format to one i can edit or have hosted on a media file site .. (and then use their standard player).

Any advice out there? Thanks in advance!

It looks like there are quite a few ways to convert 3jp files.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3GP has some ideas.

I googled '3jp to (different formats like wmv, mpeg, etc. -- choose the one you want) converter free' and got tons of relevant results for converters that do this. Here's the search for wmv That seems like a good place to start, then google the software names to read user reviews, find a reliable source, and make sure they're malware-free programs,

What editor are you planning on using once you get them into a different format? I use Windows Movie Maker a lot because it's easy and came with XP, but there a ton of others out there. I ask because you'll want to make sure whatever you use will take the format you convert to, and figuring the format out first could help you find an appropriate converter more easily. Cross-check the formats your video hosting site will take, too, to make sure everything matches up, though you could certainly convert to a different format if it didn't.

I searched for the Codec because with the .3gp codec installed, programs like PowerDVD and WMP can play them -- and capture frames if they have a frame capture function.

The two programs I quoted appear to be what you need to convert the entire clip.
