How to post independant series of stories with an intersection?

I am working on a series of stories, let's call it 'The sex life of Mary'. I'm thinking of another series, let's call it 'Tom's sexual encounters'.
Is it possible to post the same story in both series, say Ch 5 of 'The sex life of Mary' and Ch3 of 'Tom's sexual encounters', with a title 'Tom meets Mary'?
What will probably happen is that the Mary story line will be published by the time the Tom line gets going.
It seems unneccessary to publish the same story anew, or to
