You can live after you die just by thinking a certain way. You’ll lose everything and everyone you know, but it’ll all be better somehow.

It never made sense to me. When someone dies, they want to see their mom. But your mom wants to see her mom too. And on and on...

Do you really want to hang out with your great-great-great-great grandma bro?

Can anyone tell me what the gospel is?

The gospel is the "Good News" of Jesus' life, death and resurrection.:rose:

If my mom is up there, she is telling Jesus the way things should be done! Believe me, she is!

The main lesson of the gospel: be as nice as you can be, use your talents to teach, help and cure people, and get strung up like a slaughtered hog for your trouble.

Yes and IF you place your faith in Christ to save you and Believe in your heart that He died and rose again, shedding His blood as a Sacrifice for your sins, you will be saved. His Sacrifice washes away our sins.

You can't be good enough to get to heaven because you are already a sinner. Once you are already a sinner, good deeds don't do you any good. That's why we need to place our faith in Christ and His Sacrifice. When we do, God applies His perfection to us and we can go to heaven because you have to be perfect to get there.

Define "perfect"?

I am not perfect, I do not wish to be perfect, since then I would no longer be me.
So If getting into heaven means I need to be converted to perfect, I pass.

I know what you are trying to say but that last paragraph is worded awkward, at least to me. BTW you are preaching to the choir!:D

It means that you never sinned even one time no matter how small in your entire life or existence. You can't be perfect, which is why you need Christ who lived a perfect life and died in your place because He was the only one qualified.

There are times when I see a reply to a certitude I have posted to try and educate, and I can tell the person who replied did not understand what I had characterized. Which leads me to think, "Am I just that poor a teacher, or is the person just that poor of a student"?

But you are the one who needs to be taught, therefore, you are the poor student.

Religion is a choice correct?

A choice made by the person, nowhere in any of the bibles I have read does it say you must believe? You have to choice to believe or not. Belief brings salvation.

To paraphrase them all, in order to be saved, you must put your faith in Christ.

You say "When we do, God applies His perfection to us and we can go to heaven because you have to be perfect to get there."

So my last time trying to explain this to you, If someone changes me ( applies "HIS perfection", your words) then I am no longer me.

While I admit I am far from perfect, I also like who I am, and have no need to be changed to enter a place I do not wish to be...

You though seem to need that, which is fine, I have no issue with anyone who has a faith and lives by it.

We can be fun! Unlimited bingo games, pin the tail on the donkey and duck, duck goose. Just sayin';)

That brings up a thought, so like once you get in heaven, how does sex work?

Say your die single, are you free to go out and court the other's there who died single? :D

Even if you do find your "match", isn't sex before marriage a sin, so then that means Heaven must have marriages too???

Plus how about if your Ex is around...:(

hmmm I think Heaven is complicated....

Well.....from what I can tell..(and I did check;))...There will not be sex in heaven.

C.S. Lewis gave this analogy:

I think our present outlook might be like that of an innocent "young man" who, on being told that the sexual act was the highest bodily pleasure, should immediately ask whether you ate chocolates at the same time. On receiving the answer "No," he might regard absence of chocolates as the chief characteristic of sexuality. In vain would you tell him that the reason why lovers in their carnal raptures don't bother about chocolates is that they have something better to think of. The boy knows chocolate: he does not know the positive thing which excludes it. We are in the same position. We know the sexual life; we do not know, except in glimpses, the other thing which, in Heaven, will leave no room for it.
Supposedly we will have better things to do.

My understanding is that while we will recognize friends and family we will not have the same relationship catagories such as husband-wife, son-daughter, friend.

One example is the wife, husband relationship.

Matthew 22:25-32 New International Version (NIV)
25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. 26 The same thing happened to the second and third brother, right on down to the seventh. 27 Finally, the woman died. 28 Now then, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be of the seven, since all of them were married to her?”

29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

We will be like angels..we will not be angels. I know... I was sad that I couldn't have wings.

It's suppose to be better. I don't know... sometimes I just want chocolate! :D

A man approached the Pearly Gates and was greeted by St Peter. St Peter allowed the man to look in on heaven, and the man could see everyone playing croquet and drinking lemonade. St Peter also allowed the man to look down into hell, and the man could see guys holding beer bottles, with naked women on their laps. The man asked, "St Peter, it looks to me like hell is a lot more fun than heaven." St Peter laughed and said, "You see those beer bottles? They don't have holes. You see the women? They don't either bro."

You are the same person in that you retain the same personality, memories, but your new nature also co exists to where you desire to please God from your heart. This changes everything in your life. It changes your out look as well. It is also a growing process to where some of these changes occur over time as the Holy Spirit teaches you. All the while God assures you in your heart that you are His.

Ok the first part I bolded and enlarged sounds like being a brain washed slave? For what?
Eternity? Sorry I have better things to do, I pass.

Second bolded section is positive owner reinforcement for carrying willingly and obediently to the first bolded part I passed on.

If your good with your faith and want to live by it now ( and for eternity), no issues by me.

Understand I am good with my faith too, it just doesn't include religion.

Just understand that the choice you are making if you don't change your mind and turn to Christ for salvation, will result in eternal punishment in hell. That's what the Bible says.

Maybe we're in hell now?

It's not being brain washed. It's being born again as Christ said. Yes He allows you to see things the way that He does, which is the correct way to see things, through His righteous eyes.

Yeah, that doesn't sound nuts bro.
