Your naive and silly. The devil never lies. He is still an angle. Even if it is a fallen one. he gets you with the truth. Buddha does not recognize a "devil" figure. he was actually invented about 200-300 years after Jesus. The Jews have no Satan. And the visual we have is today is based on Krumpus. He was a Austro-Bavarian Alpine folklore figure that came and stole naughty children on Christmas. lol
If you are gonna talk dogma at least learn the history of your own. :rolleyes:

Completely false. Jesus said this to the Pharisees when talking about the devil: Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. {of his own: or, from his own will or disposition}

So either Jesus is a liar or satan is and it's not Jesus.

Well if they don't call it hell how do yo know that is what they are refuring to? If you want to be literal then They have to name a place. Not just say a bad place with some of these traits. :)
It's like the folks that keep mis quoting the eye for an eye thing.
Or the dumb Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve thing. Ofc they had to procreate. God never said don't have sex or fall in love with the same sex... anywhere!

Context says what they're talking about. Just like any other book ever written. You don't mention a name every time you're talking about something.

And yes if you believe the Bible is the word of God then He quite clearly says not to have sex with someone of the same sex.

Sigh! Ask any Jewish person and they will tell you they do not believe in the devil . It is not in the Tora once! AKA the old testament. You can't even read what I wrote for goodness sake!:rolleyes:
The concept of hell was not first introduced nor was the devil till afterJesus death. You when know when the New testament was written. :rolleyes: While people may have heard the word, the concept was not hammered home till way after his death. And the horned devil was not till much later. That is actually historical fact. Timeline folks oh and context. You are missing both.

Bullshit! It does not say it once in the whole damn book. Not once! Find it. I have looked several times and don't give me that fornication bs either. That translates to pre-marital sex. Just like virgin translate to un-married a woman. Not a woman who has not had sex. Context, there as well. Learn your history too. I studied that as well. Your arguments have major holes in them, folks. You basing tons of it on a book written by men with the eyes and sins of man, who say it was "inspired" by God. Oh, but they never acted like men of God except when they were being murdered. Then they were awesome. You guys have on some lovely rose-colored beer goggles. Hell, they argued among themselves and Paul made himself head honcho because he said it was Jesus wish. If you know human nature you can see how that really went.
Fun fact I actually studied Christian theology for 12 years. lol My teachers hated me. lol I questioned everything. Sorry but your book is not what you think it is folks. The old testament is all word of mouth. They played telephone with tit till it was finally written down. That was after Mosses by the way. We all know how things get warped in that game. Not to mention when it was translated to English they messed that up and no one has ever bothered to fix it. God and goat were exchanged a lot. The new testament has been edited and trimmed so much who knows what the original text looks like. Your whole basis for your belief system is based on a very and much documented flawed book.

Being stupid until everyone stops talking to you isn't the same as being right. Just saying.

Now all that said. I do respect your right to follow your own religious belief. But if yo are going to speak or preach on them then I highly suggest you look at something besides that book. It is guide book, not a how-to manual. You need to look at the history and social life of those who wrote and lived in the times it was supposedly created to understand it and that some rules are not only outdated but no longer functional. Like the old tradition of only eating fish on Fridays or the still practiced in Islam tradition of women having to cover their heads. That tradition dates back really far back and pre-Jesus. woooo!
All I ask is that you do some research into it more. You are just repeating things and while the average person will not question them, one who has the background will. For instance, if I were to speak on your side of the argument I would state that the devil was first introduced as the serpent with Eve and the apple. It's not true but that is most people's first go to. Actually, the devil was mentioned and Jesus spoke to him during his 40 nights n the desert when he was tempted. Ofc non of the new testament books were spoken or written until after Jesus died. Again context. I was actually waiting for that one. I wanted you to find real evidence. I have the damn Bible memorized. I have read theologians from as far back as have been translated to latin. Yep, read that too. Look deeper!

That is up there with things like Jesus was not Christian. He did not start the church and according to custom, would have been betrothed and married off long before he died.
This part is correct.

OH and FYI the first Cohesive Bible is the King James version. It was the firs version of the bible the catholic church ever agreed on .
This part is quite incorrect.

English Catholics already had the Bishops' bible, which emphasized fealty to Rome. English Protestants had the Caxton bible, which was very anti-monarchial. James I of England (imported from Scotland) commissioned his Authorized bible to counter both earlier versions. Catholics have never recognized the King James Version, which differs greatly from Catholic bibles. Note the numbers of books, eh?

There is no such thing as "The Bible". There are zillions of biblical texts, none of which are considered canonical by all calling themselves Christians. Various 'Old' (Hebrew Scriptures) and 'New'' Testaments contain completely different books -- google for 'apocrypha' -- and in different order, and even with quite different texts and messages within a book.

Early Eastern congregations lumped together the letters of Paul / Saul, the torturer and death-squad leader who founded Christianity, as commentary, equivalent to the letters of other early church fathers. The Apocalypse of John of Patmos (aka Revelations) was tacked-on by church authoritarians to counter all the unauthorized Apocalypses that floated around. Bibles are much more complicated than you can imagine unless you've studied the stuff.

Before Christ was even born 2000 years ago, these verses were in the Bible. And there are more than this:

1Ch 21:1 ¶ Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
Job 1:6 ¶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.
Job 1:7 And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."
Job 1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?"
Job 1:9 So Satan answered the LORD and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?
Job 1:12 And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Job 2:1 ¶ Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
Job 2:2 And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it."
Job 2:3 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause."
Job 2:4 So Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.
Job 2:6 And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life."
Job 2:7 ¶ So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
Zec 3:1 ¶ Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.
Zec 3:2 And the LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?"

God [Eil] has given us no perfect teachers, no perfect preachers, no perfect churches; why should we suppose it necessary that He should give us a perfect book? He has not given us any perfect books on medicene, on diet, on trades, on politics, on farming, on gardening, on education, or on poetry. Why should we expect Him to give us one on religion?

As a matter of fact, He has not done so.

Our common Bible is a translation. So are all the common Bibles in the world. And all translations are imperfect. The translations are made from Greek and Hebrew Bibles, and those are all imperfect. The Greek and Hebrew Bibles are compiled or formed from Greek and Hebrew manuscripts. But these are also imperfect. They all differ from each other. And no one can tell which is the nearest to the originals, for the originals are lost. So that whether there was an absolutely perfect Bible at first or not, there is no such Bible now. God [Eil] Himself has so ordered things, that all the Bibles in the world, like all the preachers, churches, and teachers, share the innocent imperfections of our common humanity.

Joseph Barker, Modern Skepticism: A Journey Through the Land of Doubt and Back Again / A Life Story

I believe the actual translation is Advocate, as in Devil's Advocate and you are correct that he features in the Torah.
However, the Book of Job clearly shows that is hubris for man to interpret the wisdom of G-d, something modern Christians do all the time at the drop of a hat.
Also, as I remember in The Book of Job, it is both G-d and the Advocate who torture Job.

It's satan or the devil. There are also more verses that talk about satan. he is also known as lucifer. That was his name before he fell.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! {O Lucifer: or, O day star}
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

I know my faith and I know why I believe it. The more I research, the more that I know that it's true.

If you had actual evidence, you wouldn't need "faith".

Actually, that's not always true. There is an element of faith to believe at times, but my faith is actually backed up by the evidence. It takes MUCH more faith to believe in Darwinian Evolution than it does Christianity. They are lacking in evidence in many areas which means it is faith based as well.

So the demonstrable workings of organic chemistry and natural selection take as much faith as gods, magic fruit, talking animals/plants and zombies?

Really?:rolleyes:

One translation of the Hebrew word for hell means "grave." It's a finality.

When you get to the New Testament, it's hard to believe that Jesus would support the idea of eternal damnation. Eternal damnation is still eternal life. Dying with no hope of an afterlife seems more somber.

I myself am not a believer. I can't find morality in a book filled with immoral acts. I find it easier to live a life of morality based on several easy to follow rules...namely the golden rule. Life life for today, plan for tomorrow, but don't dwell on the "what ifs."

the way Lucifer is used there is merely a taunting of the King of Babylon bro.

From My Notes I wrote:

There are some religions out there who teach that there is no such thing as Hell. Some teach that hell is the only the grave. Some teach that hell is a place where souls are burned up in an instant. But that is not what the bible teaches. Today, I am going to demonstrate though the word of God that hell is a literal place of torment.
Where is hell?

Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
(KJV)

Hell is down. Most bible scholars believe that it is in the center of the earth.

Mt 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
(KJV)

Jesus's body remained on the earth, but His Spirit went to the heart of the earth, or center. Where is the heart of something located? In the center.
What is Hell?

1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Hell is a prison. It is a prison for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Hell is no laughing matter. There is no party in hell.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. {strange: Gr. other}
(KJV)

Lu 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

First of all notice that this man was not happy. It says that he was tormented in this FLAME. Hell is fire. It is an eternal flame that never goes out.

Mr 9:3 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: {offend...: or, cause thee to offend} Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: {offend...: or, cause thee to offend} Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: {offend...: or, cause thee to offend} Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

It says where their worm dieth not and the FIRE is NOT quenched. Hell is eternal torment by fire.
Hell is outer darkness. There is no light there. It is pitch black, forever.

Mt 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mt 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Lu 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Who goes to hell, and what is after hell?

Re 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
(KJV)

One day after everyone has been judged, hell and death will be cast into the lake of fire.

Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The devil is going to be cast into the lake of fire. Notice that it is a place of torment and that torment never ends.

Re 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
(KJV)

Those who reject Jesus Christ and accept the mark of the beast are going to the lake of fire.

Re 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
(KJV)

Those who reject Jesus Christ won't be found written in the book of life. They also will be cast into the lake of fire.

There is only one way out. That way is Jesus Christ.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Who is God willing to save from hell and the lake of fire?

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How do we do this?

Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Ro 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

The bible says that whosoever believeth on Him shall NOT be ashamed. Are you willing to accept Jesus Christ today to be your Savior? Don't be ashamed. Raise your hand right now if you want Jesus Christ to save you and someone will show you from the bible, God's word how you can know without a doubt that you will go to heaven when you die and that you won't have to go to this place called hell.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God is willing to save ANYONE no matter what you have done, if you will simply call upon upon Jesus Christ to save you. Will you do that today?
