Well, they're back in force again and we're seeing an uncomfortable surgeance in trolling.
How to deal with them.
It's very easy to say and very hard to do.
Ignore your own trolls. Really. They're baiting you, they've got their yarn on the hook and they're throwing it out into the river, hoping you'll get pissed off at it and bite. Be the smart salmon, swim upstream and spawn something interesting.
When a troll says something to you, and you defend yourself, you are doing two things. You are acknowledging that they have a right to judge you. You are validating their argument by arguing back.
That's giving these trolls an awful lot of power over you, particularly since they only want to hurt you. So ignore your own trolls. Why? They have absolutely nothing to say that is true, valid, or even worth acknowledging.
Your superior debating skills, ability to throw the muck right back, and all around prowess in verbal warfare just cannot make up for the simple fact that you have just given your own troll credence. You have just given the very things that you know aren't true a measure of credence because you feel that you have to defend yourself.
When someone shoots at you, you defend yourself. When someone shoots and they are hitting the barn behind them instead, you don't defend yourself, you laugh at the idiot. Trolls are no different.
Save it for other people's trolls.
