How to categorize multi chapter stories?

I have a few multi chapter stories that span a number of different categories. Often my stories will incorporate many different things. In one chapter it might obviously be a bdsm scene in others its much more accurate to say its a voyeuristic adventure. Almost always there is multiple partners and ALWAYS it happens with a wife and husband. So my question is if there is no BDSM in one but lots in another, chastity play and swinging in another and yet another is focused on a threesome. How should I categorize them ? I have been changing the catagory they are posted in based on the main theam of that chapter even if the overall story clearly is just a swinging wife. Is this right ? How should I handle a long multi chapter story with many different scenarios ?

It all sounds like loving wives to me. But note I don't read in that category and I do believe literotica describes the category differently than its readership does.

You want to categorize based on core themes, not elements present. You can warn in a disclaimer about the chastity elements or incorporate it in the chapter description.

Like your core theme is a taco. Just because a taco has cheese as an element doesn't change the fact that it's a taco. It just means you have to warn folks that the taco includes cheese.

Stories that jump kinks are always problematic on a site with limited categories, and even worse when there are some categories with readerships that have loud gatekeepers ( Loving Wives )

"Almost always multiple partners" sounds like you could use group sex as the category and stick with it.

Any time you category hop, you risk leaving readers behind — and multi-part stories have a natural attrition rate anyway. Some people simply won't venture outside their comfort zones. Even if you jump to a high-readership category, you still may lose more than you gain.

If you can tie together everything with an overall theme and stick to one category, it's typically your best option. Group Sex sounds like a potential winner here. Not every scene needs to be multi-partner. It just needs to be the dominant theme and/or the culmination of the story. If the story doesn't end with a group scene, that can be problematic even if it's been common throughout.

Since it's a husband and wife, LW might be an option if the story is driven by the wife. Standard warning disclaimers about the LW readership's propensity for low votes and caustic commentary apply.

Of course, this story is already in progress and category hopping. May as well stay the course, because any readership bleed is already well established.

Novels and Novellas should be used only when no better option exists. The readership is so anemic that I hesitate to suggest it's a better option than category hopping.

List it under Novels and Novellas and let your Tags do the work for you
This is the way.

And this is the truth. Nobody wants to go on sidequest to read a whole story. People have brought this up before, or thought it was a good idea to publish a story all over the catagories.

With that out the way; just add Title pt2, pt3, etc to each chapter submission. Especially if it's long. I have one or two chaptered stories that I submitted as one piece, out of pure laziness... and they were less than six chapters long.

I failed to realize in my first story series “UCLA To Big D” that not everyone has the same kinks as me. I submitted the first 5 chapters in 5 separate categories—so sure the story was so good, everyone would love it. It never crossed my mind my kinks weren’t everyone else’s. Like others have suggested, find a common category that best represents the common theme and submit them all in it if possible.

You could drop it into Group and be deafened by silence. It's a very low response category, but at least you won't get bozo votes and comments.
