Adding a touch of drama or embellishment to make your posts more interesting and protect your identity is totally cool. When I get around to posting stories “loosely based” on real life experiences, I’m sure I’ll do the same. But if ever post my smoked ribs recipe, or stories of my high school football days, I’m gonna lie my ass off.

Yes zero are lying. Half the males on here pretend to be females. And for the real females, which there is about 10, lol, don’t lie and pretend to be males.

Don’t be so sure. I won’t say I know of anyone specific on Lit, but I absolutely know online spaces where women pretend to be men in order to dodge unwanted attention. This would seem to be exactly the kind of place where a move like that is called for.

I suspect that the vast majority of the population has not even heard of Literotica. Of the ones who access the site, most have some degree of curiosity. There are very few who actually post suggestive material and/or are intensely interested.

I think many tell little lies about personal info, that is to be expected. Just keep in mind, that if things develop into something more then written chats then that exaggerated lie may come back and bite you in the ass! I for one find it difficult to believe anything else said if it is important, and not an ideal way to start a possible relationship/friendship going forward.

As for the discussion on gender, let me just say there is zero chance of winning if you are a woman and feel the need to defend your gender on here, especially if you have non-standard sexual proclivities and/or history. Either proof is demanded or people assume you are lying. Fuck it. Either I'm believed or I'm not. It doesn't matter, because being believed is not required for Lit to be a very much needed outlet for my non-standard sexuality. And I know in my heart I would not be able to maintain the life I have without this outlet.

But it's not a non-problem that so many men lie about their gender, here. As I see it (and I'm sure many others do, too) Literotica is NOT just a website where people go to scratch their kinks. It's also a place where people post questions about sexuality in the hopes of getting useful answers. And those answers aren't useful if they are offered in bad faith - eg., a man posing as women.

To be very clear, there is NOTHING wrong with those who see their gender as non-binary or as fluid. But they should be honest about it in their profile, or when answering questions. That's all that I'm saying.

And to the women here at literotica, thanks for being here... It must not be easy.

Also, I discovered a long time ago that being in invisible mode (that's what it used to be called... I can't remember what it's called now) cuts down on opportunistic emails from guys hoping to get lucky with whatever female posters may be on Lit at any give time. It also cuts way down on random, unsolicited dick pics. I still get random emails from dudes who clearly have not read my profile, but it's been a long time since I got a random dick pic (and no, that is not a fucking invitation to anyone).

Getting back to the original question - my belief is as follows:

Although Literotica seems to be a popular site (I love it), most of the general population doesn't share the same interest in sex as we do. First, the number of regulars and visitors certainly doesn't match the general population. I personally don't know many people who regularly visit porn or sex chat sites. I think the numbers tend to be greatly exaggerated by frequency rather than unique visitors.

While I don't believe that a lot of the discussion falls into the fetish category, we frequent visitors and contributors seem to be much more into fetish sex than others. Also, I believe that the site is a magnet for people seeking to read about and discuss their fetish fantasies.

Sure, there are a lot of pretenders here, just as in real life. In my own case, although I do live out some of my fantasies here, I don't pretend, other than to protect my anonymity.

1. No i do not think so. People are different, so I am sure this small forum is not good representation.
2. Yes this can happen. If someone ask "who like honey?", I think most people who averagely dont think about eating honey will also join in because they like it. So common ones will get over-represent.
3. Yes, I can fully agree the safety that is provided from anonymity to people to become open. Because no stake to lose than a account.
