...do you clean under your cooker?

It was a year since I last ventured to this most
scary place, and it was truely frightening.

i never clean under there. it is a waste of time in my opinion. but i said when i move so i could at least get a vote in.

Ah. You mean its not actually part of the wall. Oh dear!

Next you'll be telling me that the dishwasher and the washing machine don't load and switch themselves on.

Dear me.

And my meals they don't cook themselves? This could explain why I don't see my wife much when she comes in from work!

Oviously I did not understand what they said when the told me about the fully automated kitchen!

My cooker? Must be a Brit, Ozzie or Kiwi thing. Do you mean my oven? The range top?

I can't under my oven - it is built into the cabinets. The range top comes up for cleaning, but I don't need to clean either the oven or the range burner top; I never use my oven or the range top burners - never. I use a microwave oven, a wok, and a crock pot as these are a lot easier to clean and cook with.

You forgot the ubiquitious "Other" category.

And my answer is... i never have.

I've had a housekeeper to do all that kinda stuff for many years.
Of course, with my looming change in circumstances, i'll definitely have to do begin to do the kinds of house cleaning i've not done in all this time. While MS has promised me that i'll never have to clean a bathroom (i'm holding him to it: i haven't cleaned one in more than 13 years and don't want to start now), nothing has been discussed about "cookers". In any case, i'm pretty sure he has the idea that we're going to share all the household cleaning that needs to be done.

How often is one supposed to clean under one's cooker, anyway?

Ah, in Britland we still have plenty of old fashioned cookers
that arent built into the units, they free stand in a space
between units.

Pulling it forward sliding away from the wall reveals
a whole new world of digusting grease and part cooked morsals
of food that fell behind.

The same question could be applied to freestanding fridges or washing machines etc. But not as much muck gets behind them.

Damn, cymbidiaain't you the lucky ducky? I knew I was doing something wrong, the reason my wife doesnt do housework, cooking or clean the bathroom is because I do it.
a) because she works harder than me at her job
b) because I'm incredibly fussy about how things are done in the house.

Our first arguement after we got married was over who was doing the vacuuming.... she was upset because I would'nt let her! Women never can be satisfied...
