Just how violent can one make a story?
I am curious if within all this free speach un-spoken rules apply.
I am aware of the age restrictions within the stories but as to violent content i cannot find any indication within the FAQ's that there should be a problem.
For example can murder take place during the act of intercourse?

A lot of the stories include murder if you read up in the 'erotic horror' category.

Violence isn't a reader pleaser. It depends on whether or not you want a high(er) rated story, or one you don't really care how it rates.

Some of my stories have violence. If violence i sused to move the story forward, I don't think it hurts, it's a legitimate tool for advanceing plot. When violence is gratuitous, I think it detracts from the ertoic nature of a story for most readers.

Hi Kingdex,

As Doormouse said, if it is an erotic horror story, then, yeah, sure it can!

I've killed off a character during intercourse in one of my erotic horror stories here. In fact, six of them died.

In another story I have here in that category only one died, and not during sex, although it was a very gory death.

To me, violence that is condusive to the plot and/or characters does work, but if it is gratuitous violence just for the sake of it and an over-abundance of blood and gore, again, just for the sake of it, then, nope, it doesn't work for me.

Just write the story as the story needs to be written, worry about the accpetance of it once you are happy with it.

One more thing.

Choose your category wisely. Last week I found two stories in erotic horror that Definitely belonged in fetish!!

Blood and cutting... ewww... that's fetish stuff, NOT horror!! In the content they were written in the stories I read, gross and for me, an erotic horror writer... they turned my stomach.

Good luck with your story :)

You violent buggers... worse injury in any one of my stories is when a bloke caught his dick in his zipper as the husband's car pulled in the drive.

"We've got a bleeder." :D

As violent as god will allow

which is alot
:p

I think you can be as violent as you want, as long is it has a point to the story. Screw what is legal, because alot of the stuff we do isn't legal. It's just a story, what ever goes. Hell all, my stories are violent. Better to kill someone in a story then real life.

Depends on the story, the style, and the tone. Like they said, the Erotic Horror category is a little more forgiving (and the readers have a better idea of what they might be in for).

I got away with some pretty damn nasty stuff in "Infernal" (I'm still amazed, frankly, that it was accepted).

I agree with the basic concept here. However, even if the violence is a reasonable plot theme, too much violence may turn off the potential readers and, in effect, kill the story.

There are essentially three things that Lit won't publish: Underage sex, Bestiality, and Snuff.

Violent stories used to get banished to allextremesex.com -- AKA the Extreme category -- a sister site of Lit's that has since been dropped.

Murder can happen during intercourse, but murder can't happen AS intercourse. Violence that has a dramatic or literary purpose for being in a story is generally acceptable but gratuitous violence and violence as a fetish will probably get a story rejected.
