apparently, 'the average person' eats 24.2 quarts (or something like that) or around 6 gallons

sounds like an awful lot to me

rarely. i picked some up the other day, and haven't touched it yet. on the rare occasion, i will get a frozen yogurt or a single dip when out with the kids. cookies on the other hand are my crack, and i can't keep them in the house without wanting to eat every single one.

i like ice cream, i do! but trying to add it all up? i'd be surprised if i even did 2 gallons, probably closer to 1. 6? really? dayumn

I'll buy a container, not even sure if what I buy is a half gallon.
but I'll just take a couple of spoons maybe like every other day or so. maybe even put a little in a dish.
it lasts me way over two weeks.
between that and what I get in restaurants, maybe i do close to 6 gal/yr.

I did this over the weekend - stewed up some peaches, use it for ice cream topping.
delish - balances out the sweetness of the ice cream, with nice flavor.
peaches are in season now, I use the ones are hard. takes a couple of hours on really low heat.
don't have to add any sugar or water, or anything.

I guess I'm an outlier. I eat about 20-25 gallons a year. I work out a lot and need the calories.

I'm not a huge fan of ice cream. I never get big servings. A small cone. And funnily, I don't like ice cream in the summer. I prefer it as a winter desert. I don't think I come anywhere close to the national average.

Like Ogg, I'm also diabetic. So I can't eat ice cream.

I will say this about ice cream though. I've always loved that stuff. Before I was diagnosed I'd eat it whenever I could.

When I was in my first year of college I lived in a dormitory, and the food really sucked. There also wasn't any way to get food on campus after 6:00 pm. So a bunch of us would pile into a car a couple of times a week to go to a local supermarket to buy snacks. Somewhere in the course of those trips, I started buying ice cream even though we didn't have a freezer to store the leftovers. So I bought those pricey little pints. At one point this guy named Greg dared me to buy a half-gallon, and that dare came with a bet. The bet was that if I ate it all, my ice cream would be paid for. If I couldn't do it I had to write one of Greg's mid-term papers.

It wasn't long after that people were lining up to watch the idiot scarf down a half-gallon of ice cream in less than ten minutes without getting brain freeze. So yeah, I did it more than once... way more. I probably ate six or seven gallons of the stuff in one semester. Oh to be young again.

Today I found out there is one category where I am extremely above average.

Always the danger with statistics, they skew.
