The official overall Literotica sex:non-sex ratio is 42:1. Of course, different categories do require deviation of this ratio. In addition, there are sub-categories, such as oral:anal, strap-on:dildo, and father/daughter:mother/son:brother/sister (in the incest category). It's all quite complicated and arcane, so most authors just wing it.

Agreed. When I write, I build a story first and then work in some sex-related scenes.

Admittedly, I wasn't always this way — when I first started writing, all I could come up with were sex-heavy "stories." That, however, got old real fast (I'm one of those types where, hey, lovemaking and sex are great, but once it's done, I want a real story).

You are, as usual, right. And considering the qualtiy of their replies, I hope they hang around.

Da Ghost, as others have said, there is no formula. I had a one-page Romance story, Till We Meet Again, finish second in a Lit writing contest. It had no sex except a line about how the two lovers "became as one." A six-page Group Sex story of mine, Xmas Xcess, was about 80% stroke. It finished just out of the money. Go figure.
