Can anyone tell me what must be the ratio of eroticism/ sex to non sexual content ( like the begining of story .. making up scenes .. description of events .. etc.) ???

Thanx !

Is there a ratio? I'd think the story itself would unfold the sex at the correct time.

The official overall Literotica sex:non-sex ratio is 42:1. Of course, different categories do require deviation of this ratio. In addition, there are sub-categories, such as oral:anal, strap-on:dildo, and father/daughter:mother/son:brother/sister (in the incest category). It's all quite complicated and arcane, so most authors just wing it. ;)

Some of the most erotic stories I've read here have very little sex in them, (check out Suzanne by the Sea) so it depends on how you want to present your story. In fact, I think 'story' is the key word here. You can write a story which is made up of mostly sex scenes, and you can end up with a bunch of sex scenes and no story. Boring. At least for me.

No.

Agreed. When I write, I build a story first and then work in some sex-related scenes.

Admittedly, I wasn't always this way — when I first started writing, all I could come up with were sex-heavy "stories." That, however, got old real fast (I'm one of those types where, hey, lovemaking and sex are great, but once it's done, I want a real story).

wow. it's like newbie central in here...
You are, as usual, right. And considering the qualtiy of their replies, I hope they hang around.

Da Ghost, as others have said, there is no formula. I had a one-page Romance story, Till We Meet Again, finish second in a Lit writing contest. It had no sex except a line about how the two lovers "became as one." A six-page Group Sex story of mine, Xmas Xcess, was about 80% stroke. It finished just out of the money. Go figure.

Good luck, and welcome to AH.

Indeed, which is why I didn't bother adding anything, they all seemed to have nailed the main points already :D

So instead - welcome Newbies! Take a look around, don;t be scared to post in other threads and keep asking questions if you get stuck. Everyone round here is really nice unless you start getting aggressive, we don;t like Newbs who are too big for their boots, but you all have made a good first impression already :)

Happy Thursday!

Christ why don't you just ask how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?

It's not in our job description. Besides, thought you had that task licked, so to speak.

Oh I do, however, that information was paid for with dear coin and by no means will I relinquish it to those that I deem unworthy.
