Sorry to make a thread on this, but the search feature isn't working for me, but like my title asks.

I also believe-but could be wrong- that it is 36-3800 words regardless of spacing. Another words a conversation done in dialogue takes up more pages on word because of the frequent spacing but does not matter on lit.

Lit pages average 3,767 +/- ~400 words -- as of several years ago when I checked 100 randomly selected full pages. (the first page of multi-page stories)

The page break is actually based on a character (of approx 14Kb) count to produce a Lit page of Approximately 25Kb when overhead and advertising is added in. Unfortunately. the orphan control, inclusion of non-printing characters and formatting codes makes using a character count impractical.

I recommend using 3,500 words for approximating Lit pages because it is an easy number to manipulate.

Thanks for the replies. Kind of thought it was in the 3500 neighborhood.

One of my stories had to continue on to a second page and the first page had 19,914 characters with spaces. The best way to check is in word 2007, select all text by pressing down Ctrl and A, then on the bottom left you'll see the word count. Left click that and a box will appear with the statistics.

The first page of mine story was 3954 words, 328 lines, and 19,914 characters with spaces, 15,872 not counting spaces after literotica cut it into two pages.

Hope this helps!

I go with a 3,750 estimate and it seems to work. I see no reason why it would need to be refined. You get a preview of how it will split.
