How Many Posts Per Day...

I'm asking how much is too much, how much is so too much that people, even people here, would agree it's evidence of a "problem".

I really shouldn't have to re-explain the concept...at least, not to posters who know their shit and have something to say.

`I don't really think you can measure "time" spent on Lit. without sitting down with a stop watch and recording all the ins and outs. Even then you would have to consider whether recording time wqs to be Lit time or "other".

I think you have a problem when you start to read or to post drivel. Rather sad to have nothing else to do with your time. You can just go with the flow, read what you find interesting and try to post something lucid if you are so inclined.

Pretty harsh realization, eh Sean?

You've been spending somewhere between 15-30% of all your waking hours here for several years.

And whats funny is that over 80% of the members have seanh and his alts on ignore. So he is wasting all of his life talking and no one is listening.. LOL

You've obviously never spent four days on the German autobahn system.

And you haven't either...

Hey sean... what drugs are you on tonight?

Very good point.

Agreed Quality has a place in this issue, but so does Quantity.

I think you can run quantity off quality.

Once you select what you consider quality you can just spend whatever time it takes to follow through to your own satisfaction.

There are lots of other factors to consider. You should be able to pick up on threads that engage you and leave the rest. If you start reading and posting stuff that is vacant then I think you do have a problem.

Actually most of my posts are to myself which I find most worthwhile.:D

sean

The Andra Jenny Show (since 1999, Lit's lowest rated comedy!) has several objectives:

  • "Teach Laurel a lesson" about supporting non-conservative, non-libertarian positions
  • Remake the General Board into "Stormfront with Tits"
  • Drown out opposing viewpoints via a daily cut-n-paste spewnami from 6 am to 9 am

Sure...everyone's mileage varies.

And we all see people running around, posting crap, apparently simply to get noticed or feed their manic phase or whatever.

That's why I ask the Question...how much is too much? When does it become obvious a poster is fucked up?

A few years back it allowed you to see how many posts a person could make in a day. A person here divided it by 24 hrs and thats where it resulted in a post in ever 1.5 mins...

Crazy amount of posting you do have to admit.

But if you count the amount of posts of what a troll makes and his alts.. Take seanh for example. He lives with the keyboard on his lap.

Haha, it makes sense that serena I mean sean h is mad at this thread. Dude must have about a million posts...lol

I would say:

a) Bombarding the front page with new threads. It is a public board shared with mant other people not a stage for your probably pointless posts. Do you really think people are going to respond to your rude behaviour?

b) Automatic pistol posting. Why post 3 orn 4 short posts in a five minute span on one thread. Maybe if you caught your breath and took the trouble to integrate your thoughts into one crafted post someone might read it.

c) Topic obsession. You have an intrest in only issue in life? You could rake it over and over forever with the same delight that you had when you first discovered it? Please be quiet. :)

d) Namecalling. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." Really childish and ineffecdtive attempts at communication. If you don't like someone elses position either confront it keep quiet. Calling an opponent names like "idiot" or "moron" does not look good for your side. (Investigate the "Ignore" function, please)

e) Generally divisive social attitude. Racism etc. Putting people into broad general categories and then dumping on them for imagined crimes is stupid and just plain lazy. The modern world is complex and deeply fragmented, stop and smell the roses. No future in attacking windmills.

A certain amount of each of those items is to be expected on the GB...and sometimes, a pissing contest can be great fun for the readers and participants....if the participants are skiled wordsmiths, that is.

The General Board is by nature, a bit general and thus not always Top Quality.
