How many people read your stories?

I'm still getting my feet under me here as an author and I was curious how many reads to expect in a given period. For that matter, how many votes/comments per 1000 are typical?

The numbers depend on many things. Some categories attract more readers and votes than to others. You might check out the "TOPS" list to get an idea about the differences.

Keep in mind that the number of comments is only the public ones. It doen't reflect how many email feedbacks I've gotten for each story.

ETA: As Rumply pointed out, the readers of different catagories vote different amounts. I've been told that the votes and comments tend to be kind of low in Gay Male, which is where all of my stories are located.

1-8 comments per story is pretty typical unless a lot of people hate it. Varies a lot by category.

For me, 4 votes per 1000 page views is pretty normal. But it varies anywhere from 10 per 1000 to as low as 2 per 1000.

Mostly, comment and vote ratios are lower than you would think.

I raised this in a thread a few months ago, and came to these conclusions: The actual number of discrete individuals represented by the Literotica "story views" statistic is between 20 percent and 30 percent of the indicated figure. (Probably the lower end.) My six stories range from 20,000 to 60,000 views, meaning at least 4,000 to 12,000 actual readers for each. That seems very plausible. There are close to 600,000 registered Literotica members, plus many "lurkers."

The category a story is in can affect the number of views, votes, and PCs, with some categories getting far more than the others.

I wonder some times too. Stories are bad enough, when you get into the poetry cats, well, just don't hold your breath for votes.
