How long is story "pending"

I am new to this and submitted my first story 6 days ago. Under my profile under the view page, it says that it's pending and still hasn't been approved. Maybe I'm over excited, but thought the turn around till it was posted was shorter than this. Is there anything I'm not doing correctly in the submission process?

tuurn around depends on how many submissions there are , priority to contest submissions, and other factors the editors dem fit. I think they look at first submissions more carefully to make dsure the Lit rules are met. Grammar ios also a big issue, and if you submitted it in a word format, I think it takes longer. A week seems standard now.

really? so far mine have only taken three to four days. I did the cut and paste thing, so that could be why... good luck with the stories honey.

Yeah, I thought that saved time to cut and paste so did that. But it's long, so hopefully that's the reason. I didn't think they actually read each and every story in it's entirety. But 7 days and still 'pending'. Hopefully it's not like my computer—freezing up in the process!
