How long have you been writing erotic lit?

I, for one, was writing it before I knew what it was. I read a romance novel one of my friends had "borrowed" from her mom in sixth grade or so, and was entranced by the smutty bits. I think the first time I actually penned the stuff was in eighth grade when my imagination escalated a makeout scene in Sweet Valley High, and I felt the need to pen my expansion in a little notebook I hid under my mattress. After that, I moved onto original work, and haven't looked back.

Where did you start?

7 Months ago. I'm a complete newbie. So far it's been a lot of fun, but I read the other author's work and realize how far I still have to go . My solution is to ask for a lot of help (authors, editors, readers, or anyone else I can con into taking a look at what I've written).

I guess it'd be around 6 years since I wrote my first ever Lit story (under a pseudonym that's waaay too close to my real name). Yeesh, that's a fair time.

I've woven sex scenes into other stories, ones that contained mostly action, for a long time. Did it for the first time that I can remember in the eleventh grade. But purely erotic stories where the sex scenes are the main point of the plot? I've only been doing that since Feburary of this year. And oftentimes I wonder which is better. My answer? Neither is better. They're just different. Both types of stories equally depict life. And are, I hope, equally enjoyed.

In a story I wrote for college I had a scene where the two main characters were in bed together, though it was after making love and they were just talking. Does that count?

I've been writing erotica since about age 11, in some way. I always wrote, as long as I can remember, but when I started to mature, everything I wrote seemed to turn to romance or sex. Frankly, until I found Lit, I thought I needed therapy. Now I know that writing the porn is my therapy.
