I submitted my editor profile on 6/28. How long does it take to get approved? I notice several new editors have been listed since then but mine still shows pending.

It's taking two days now, so either you are reading your status incorrectly (which isn't something we can see) or your story has fallen into the cracks. If the latter, it's reason to PM (private message--upper right on this screen) Laurel, the site editor, concerning the delay.

Did you click "save" after you updated your profile? I believe the updates take effect right away after the profile has been saved.

Thanks, but ...

Thanks but I think both replies are referring to story approval, not editor approval.

I submitted my editor profile, and it still says Pending at the top. How long might that take?

I am afraid if I resubmit it, it will go down to the bottom of the heap.

Does that apply to getting your profile picture approved? Mine is still pending for like a few months now.

I was referring to setting up a Volunteer Editor profile on Lit.

Ah, so, sorry. I think the editor program here is hopelessly broken, so rots of ruck on getting that set up.

Sigh. The VE program is not hopelessly broken. It could be better, but it's not totally useless. I had to disable my profile because I was getting too many requests.

How many of those requests were from folks who bothered to read your editing profile?

Update

My profile was approved on 7/10, along with a batch of others. Evidently the backlog got cleared!

So now I will wait and see how broken the program is.

Just from posts on this board I can see that there will be problems. Authors who do not read the FAQ and the Writer's Resources seem common. But at the very worst, it is sure to be interesting. At the best, it may be rewarding.

Thanks for all the comments!

I tried to submit a request for an editor through the online form, and kept getting a message about having to login, even though I definitely was, so I it looked broken to me.

They all said they read my profile. The thing is, some of them didn't take it seriously. Writers are so desperate to find a VE, they feel they can negotiate because porn is porn, right? I'm willing to negotiate, but not much if the story is other than M-F sex scenes. And if the writer hasn't taken the time to clean up the document to make it readable, I don't have the time to try to figure out what the he/she has written.

Anyway, two of my writers I edit series for I connected with via the EF. Another I connected with via the gb, which was unusual. A few more I connected with via the EF and AH.

I just wouldn't rule out the VE list because it's just one more option for writers and VE's to connect, and I would guess many writers don't have the time to participate on the forums.
