nudge nudge cough cough, it isn't really true, that'd be against Lit's guidelines...basically true
It's probably not a good idea to start your stories with "This is a true story."My story ... basically true.
it is truly the way I remember itIt's probably not a good idea to start your stories with "This is a true story."
Right away, you're turning off some readers by making it sound like a drunk in a bar arguing as he tells a "big fish" story: "No! No! I swear, REALLY, it was THIS big!" (stretching his arms out wide.)
EDIT: I can honestly say NONE of my stories are true. A few, at best, are stories based somewhat on real life experiences, but embellished to enhance the entertainment value.
But I/T also has a lot more stories being submitted, so even a greater effort put reviewing them could still result in delays compared to other categories. That this is not the case in I/T would suggest the category gets preferential treatment, resulting in shorter review time despite larger amount of traffic.Example, anal has less stories, taboo has a lot. So it makes sense that taboo gets approved a lot faster, to prevent a massive backlog.
No. Frustrating as it might be, it's fairly common. Around the two week mark is when you drop Laurel a subtle hint.Okay, so 8 days out isn't anything to be worried about, then?
If you write it as an essay, it can probably go around the guidelines. I've gotten several "memoirs" published here, which I have said were true, but in most of them the sexual content was peripheral or non-existent. No one is going to be bothered if I write about driving a taxi in 1978. One of the stories was about how a hooker got into my car and assumed I was a customer. I told her the truth, and she got out.nudge nudge cough cough, it isn't really true, that'd be against Lit's guidelines...
Very exciting, in any case, and good luck with all the writing!!
DO NOT pull it back and republish.I have a new one for me. Submitted a long story in Romance on Feb. 28 that is still pending. Submitted a shorter story in Voyeur/Exhib. on Wednesday, and right away it was set to be published tonight. I don't know what her submission board looks like, but pushing one through over one submitted earlier makes me wonder of somehow stories get "lost" until you try to do something about it.
If my first one isn't shown as published by tomorrow, I'm going to pull it back and resubmit it and see if that works.
DO NOT pull it back and republish.
It will go to the back of the queue. Just be patient. My current story was also published on 2/28 and is still pending. It just depends on, well, whatever it depends on. None of us know what Laurel is going through or how heavy her approval load is.
Not in my experience, but your mileage may vary.An edit would push it back. Just withdrawing it completely and resubmitting is different.
