How Global Warming Really Works

Butterflies And Junk Science
by Jim Steele, Ph.D.

...Singer and Parmesan illustrate a glaring problem when limiting debate to peer-reviewed journals. Contradictory evidence is simply never published.

So why haven’t they published this good news of the butterfly’s recovery? Why did only her erroneous climate gloom and doom bring worldwide acclaim? Despite a wealth of evidence that contradicted global warming predictions, her faulty “Climate and Species Range” went viral and is now cited by over 580 articles. In contrast just 17 have cited the paper detailing conservationists’ efforts that actually saved the butterfly, “The Endangered Quino Checkerspot Butterfly”. Parmesan wrote subsequent papers blaming extreme weather and climate change for population extinctions and again withheld evidence of the species’ success. Likewise her half-truths were immediately embraced and published by our leading climate scientists and then cited by more than a thousand articles. That deception however requires a future essay...

Which Jim Steele is this? The Jim Steele who has a PhD in Exercise Science, or the one who teaches Architecture at USC?

Whichever Jim Steele this is, and whatever his PhD is in, he would be rich beyond his imagination if he any evidence that climate change isn't happening.

What is your PhD in, coach?

What about you, Queef Quavin? What's your Ph.D. in?

Jack-off of all trades, master of none.

I heard he studied under AJ and earned PhD's in Ascription & Deflection.

Ad hominem attack (again and again and again).
That's all you do.

A sentient observer could easily conclude that, in the absence of evidence of any danger, ad hominem attack
is the only resort for the desperate.

When you post irrelevant graphs and charts that are completely irrelevant to the conversation in which you are attempting to interject, you deserve all of the ridicule that you receive.

YOU posted an article from Jim Steele and cited his PhD. I'd just like to know what his PhD is in, I guess you don't want us to know.

  • Que never provides inks because he's a liar.
  • tryfail never provides links because he's usually not having the same conversation as the rest of us.

By the way, has anyone figured out what Jim Steele's Ph.D. is in? All I can find in his bio is this:

So instead of pursuing a doctorate, Jim Steele chose to also teach science in San Francisco’s inner city schools during the remainder of the year to fulfill his sense of social justice.

I found a Jim Steele who has a PhD in Exercise Science and is an assoc professor at a uni in England, and the Jim Steele who teaches Architecture at USC. It's a common name so who knows which Jim Steele this is, what his PhD is in or if he really has one.

I followed the links from tryfail's original, so I'm fairly confident I've got the right Jim. This Jim wrote a book skeptical about climate science. But there's this mystery about the Ph.D.

Surely tryfail wouldn't mislead us so...?

He's an architect in the exercise field in the inner cities of the UK.

Duh.

ObTopic: How Global Warming Really Works

1) People start Industrial Revolution, fill atmosphere with CO2 greenhouse gas.
2) More solar energy is retained in atmosphere than is reflected into space.
3) Increased energy warms hydrosphere, melting icecaps and glaciers. Weather becomes more energetic. Climate patterns shift, causing droughts and floods, shifting agricultural zones, causing famines and refugee flows and political chaos.
4) Sea levels will rise, flooding coastal zones. Ocean current patterns will be disrupted, further discombobulating climate, possibly leading to fast-onset of an ice age.
5) Humanity is fucked.

That's the basic explanation. Enjoy.

Is that happening?
Two Melting Glaciers Could Decide the Fate of Our Coastlines --Wired.Com

In 2011, NASA scientists discovered a massive crack across the Pine Island Glacier in Antarctica.
The glaciers of Pine Island Bay are two of the largest and fastest-melting in Antarctica. (A Rolling Stone feature earlier this year dubbed Thwaites “The Doomsday Glacier.”) Together, they act as a plug holding back enough ice to pour 11 feet of sea-level rise into the world’s oceans—an amount that would submerge every coastal city on the planet. For that reason, finding out how fast these glaciers will collapse is one of the most important scientific questions in the world today.

To figure that out, scientists have been looking back to the end of the last ice age, about 11,000 years ago, when global temperatures stood at roughly their current levels. The bad news? There’s growing evidence that the Pine Island Bay glaciers collapsed rapidly back then, flooding the world’s coastlines...
How long can you tread water?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Uh, huh. Your concept of scientific precision is amusing. Any more whoppers?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Uh, huh. Got any more science fiction?

4) Sea levels will rise, flooding coastal zones. Ocean current patterns will be disrupted, further discombobulating climate, possibly leading to fast-onset of an ice age.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Uh, huh. Got any proof? Oh, and by the way— when, exactly, is this supposed to happen?

5) Humanity is fucked.

You really ought to consider a career as a science fiction writer but avoid one in physics or any field requiring intellectual rigor.

Hey, fuckface, does Jim Steele have a Ph.D.?
