How do you know when you're found?

Someone once told me that you find yourself when you lose everything else.

In one sense that sounds like a terrible thing to have to go through to find yourself...

In another sense... its very Zen. *smile*

Is it really you that you're searching for or is it your purpose in life?

Both.

Many a day I feel like a big, walking question mark.

How do you know.

This is gonna sound SO lame but....

You just do!

Well, even though there really isn't a stopping point, where I'll ever feel like I'm done growing or learning, there are times when you do feel more 'there' than other times. I have been very lost in the past, and I savor those moments when I have pulled my act together, focused on teh things that count, and 'found' myself again.

Someone said to me once that people don't change, they just become more like what they are supposed to be.

I like this thought very much.

All I can tell ya darlin is you will know when ya get there. It is a calm, serene feeling.... until the next time. ;)

I get that from drinking a dozen beer!

Funny, I was re-reading Bernard Malamud's The Natural today and there's a fantastic line in there that I think actually made it in to the movie (which is saying something, lol).

Roy and Iris are out for the first time together and Roy is going on about how crappy his life has been and how poorly he feels he's been treated missing what could've been 15 good quality years as a baseball player. After getting sick of Roy whining like a bitch, Iris says:

"We have two lives, Roy, the life we learn with and the life we live with after that. Suffering is what brings us towards happiness."
