How do you feel?

I don't think I've ever killed off a character. I considered it once, but it was too much of a downer.
Not really an erotica thing I guess.
I've done it.

A story not here but elsewhere, I ended the main story in a drive-by shooting. My main protagonist lost an eye, a major cast member was killed, and everyone in the 'shooter' car died when my protagonist shot back, hitting the driver and causing them to crash.

I write stories first, and then they have erotic elements.

- Despite that the story was very erotic throughout, all the way up to the sudden moment when they get shot at. Itself a scene I had been hinting at in some buildup as they kept having to deal with a pack of boys running around with Confederate flags and hassling them at various points in the story. So while it was sudden, I had put in hints that something was coming. But I'd not planned that something to be so extreme until near the end.

It's still more mild than some of what I grew up dealing with from those types.

I don't plan on doing it again. But I can easily see some characters 'not making it' in two inwork series I have been working on. My current work though, my Alien Girl stories - are purposefully setting a lighter tone. So while I have an 'attempted kidnapping' scene planned for it, I'm going to use that scene to intentionally show a different light to things and have everyone, even the "bad guys", make it out OK.

To the main question. I guess my last post is an example of where my feelings can alter a story.

I was going to post a reply that said no, they don't. But I have an extremely dramatic counter example right up there...

I think most of the time I'm more restrained. A larger mood might inform the narrative, but I generally have a goal in mind with a story and I will only write when my mood is compatible with that goal.

Otherwise... if I get too carried away by my mood, operantly my protagonist might end up getting shot at... o_O

No. I find Slayers sexy, not vampires 😊.

Do you think Whedon would sue if I wrote a Buffy / Faith / Emily threesome? I guess he has other stuff to worry about!

I've heard that only Disney cares much about its characters, and even they would be hard pressed to find out what's on Lit. Some people are wary or even paranoid about them, but I'm not sure it's justified. There have been debates here about copyright issues, but I don't know who here has reliable knowledge about it. I've seen J.K. Rowling's characters used in a lot of artwork, including porn ones. There are many others.

If don't look much at the Celebrities and Fan Fiction section. By its very title, there must be a lot of fictional characters on there. My guess is that if you are not doing it for pay, you are on safe ground. Suing people is not worth it unless megabucks are at stake. And as I said, Lit is bit obscure in the scheme of things.

So when they come for me, I can say speak to you, right 🤣?

If I don’t feel well emotionally, if I’m not feeling it, it won’t work. So much of what I write is travel escapism or designed around trying to make myself feel cozy reading it. Maybe writing helps me get into that comfortable mindset. If it doesn’t, I’ll bale out of the attempt and try again another day. Wine helps, or coffee in the morning. So does a comfortable chair in warm light.

They'll probably only come for you if you were, say, Vanity Fair magazine and you had an unauthorized Mickey Mouse on the cover. In fact, just as an experiment, I found a few Mickey Mouse videos on PornHub, which is hardly obscure.

You've heard of how Jerry Falwell sued Hustler Magazine, which did have deep pockets, and how he lost decisively.

For the past four or five years, there has been much going on in the world that I have found more than a little depressing. But writing - about pretty much anything - cheers me up no end. :)
There is always something very depressing going on in the world, usually worse than now, and that has never slowed writers before. I guess merely writing about it helped a lot of people, Primo Levi for example. In fact, it inspired him to write some works, not exaggerating, of genius.

This post just reminds of STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME.

So tell mother…I feel fine.
