With all the chaos of the world, the constant day to day turbulence, and the ongoing distractions from what is really important, how do you get away. How do you escape all the crap going on in your life, even if only for a minute?

I know what I do is turn off all the lights in my room, light a candle, and sit in front of my piano and just play... I've done this for 15 seconds, and I've done it for like seven hours. It is the ultimate stress relief, a blissful escape. Half of the time I do it naked, but I can't think of an actual reason for doing that other than I like to....

I know this thread idea is random and pointless, but felt like starting a new one and get some new ideas on how to get away from it all sometimes...

A big game room with all the current games....DDR, Guitar Hero, Stacker, Air Hockey, Nascar. Those are my fav five, I can spend 50 in very lil time, but so relaxing....

Running shoes, mp3 player, and a long, long set by Boards of Canada or Explosions in the Sky

Cycling, running, or working out with the music up loud.

I take long walks or bike rides. Sometimes organizing a junk drawer can be a great space out task.

I read - something new if I have it, if not then I pick one from the bookcase that I can't remember the end of and just read until I forget what stressed me out. If that doesn't work then I walk. If all else fails, I break something then take a nap :)

Yeah, I read poets like Wordsworth and Frost as strange as that sounds, I feel like Im getting in touch with nature just by reading...

I like to pick up a favorite book and dive head first into a different world, take a walk, or sometimes just lie down and listen to my iPod.

I have not read much Wordsworth, but Frost is always good. Longfellow (Autumn is a favorite of mine) and Whitman can both make me feel connected with nature.

For me I usually come to lit and unwind, or I read a book, I bake cakes or something, or simply spend time with my daughter doing something like finger painting or playing with play dough...other wise my biggest stress relief is to crank up some music and sing my heart out till I just feel better.

That's a good one Rayne Clowd. I actually have a mix I call Angry Music that I sing/scream along to when I'm stressed and it always calms me down!

Reading, music, gardening, cooking, driving, hiking, camping, meditation.

Anything to occupy my mind in a different direction ...

Driving is one of my favorite ways to unwind. When time allows, I love to go where there is water, and just sit, and stare...
For some reason, the water calms my soul. I miss living near the ocean. Sigh.

I escape alot here on lit. other times I go for a walk alone and think. It depends on what I am trying to escape..

Depends what is on my mind. Sometimes it's sitting in the dark. Other times it's playing games.

I paint, I dance, I jabber on the phone to anyone willing to put up with me, I am also a fan of the bubble bath, I hang out here and I like to read and watch mindless tv.
