I don't have a definition...but what I like about my best friend is being able to sit with her and not having to fill every second with words. Comfortable silence is a precious thing.

Also, someone who, no matter how long it's been since you've seen them, can pick right up where you last left off!

I have the great pleasure of recently (3 weeks ago) reuniting with a friend from way back in elementary school, who I haven't seen in 10 years! It's been aweseome!

My best friend is the one I trust to not hurt me. To not leave me, no matter how wacky I get. To give me good advice, whether I want to hear it or not. To be silly, and make me laugh just because he knows he can. My best friend is the one I trust managing my affairs after I am dead- he is also my trustee- or if I can't decide things for myself anymore. I wanted him to be the person in my living will, too, to decide when the time comes that it is time for me to leave this world with dignity. That's the one thing I can think of that I've asked of him that he said he didn't want to do. He convinced me that a family member should have that responsibility. But as my best friend, I still trust him with my life.
