Are you using a laptop? They are sometimes hard to get in the right position. There are apps that you can use to turn your phone into a camera that you can use to record onto your computer. They can be easier to position.

Are you going for a full body shot or a close up? Up for the "worms eye view", down for that "birds eye view" or more direct? Find your right angle and then decide what device to use to achieve it.

Personally I never use my laptops built in webcam. I use my phone. I can position it where I want and how I want it to record. It's small enough to be placed anywhere up close and I can zoom in if I have the phone set further away.
