How do I put a link to my stories in my signature?

I'm still new in the Forums but I've posted too many stories.

Since joining the forums I've started looking at the stories written by those whose posts I enjoy.

It is no surprise that if I enjoy the posts I also enjoy the stories by that person.

But I don't know how to add the link to my own.

Help - please.

URL in signature

Assuming you're logged in, and accessing the Bulletin Board:

- from the links at the top of the page choose 'Control Panel'
- from the Edit bar at the top, choose 'Edit Profile'
- when the Edit Profile box comes up, look for 'Signature'
- a couple of lines below the word 'Signature' you'll see vB Code is on
- click on the link and you'll get a page which will tell you all about adding links of your own

Alex

Thank you for that.

I followed the links but I still need to find out what I put as the url.

I think it starts

If that is right, how to I find my uid?

Thank you, Alex.

I will amend my signature tomorrow. Watch this space.

I like the coat-hanger in your avatar. I've never seen the real one, only the copy in Sydney.

Hi Ogg.....just dropping in to say "howdy". We've corresponded a bit in the past; don't know if you recall or not. Hope you're doing well.

Yes, thank you.

I am doing well except that my Muses are being very demanding and contradictory.

It would be nice to have one Muse but I have eleven and they seem either to say nothing or all talk at once.

Even the Greeks had only nine.

Hmm....is that kind of like the various voices in your head, all talking at once? You have muses....I've got voices. LOL!

Take care.

You should never listen to the voices inside your head, only to that lonely one inside your .

Sometimes I wish my Muses were just voices in my head. If they were I could pretend they weren't there or ignore them.

They are more like succubi - they CAN'T be ignored. They make themselves known by every sense except sight.

When they are present I write as if I am possessed. I don't recognise the output as being the product of my conscious or unconscious mind.

A more rational explanation is that I am stark staring mad, but then aren't all writers?

The men in white coats are on theit way.

Thank you, Alex.

It works!

I'm amazed that I got it right first time that I was able to have my ISP operational for more than 5 minutes.

Now I can really justify the loss of my "virgin" tag.

I've just noticed that it has changed all my previous posts as well.

This is impressive. I think I'll stop at that for today before this success goes to my head - and it wouldn't have been possible without Alex.

Awww... the sweet, innocent amazement of the new-comers! Why, I remember when I was new at Lit... 9 months ago... :D

And I was new eight months ago but I've only just started using the forums.

For the rest of the time I've been posting stories and wondering why the voting varies from 2 point something to 5 (less than 10 votes so no one's noticing yet).

I'm really old-fashioned in my computing so urls are a mystery. No if you asked me about machine code for 1960s IBM mainframes ... but I've probably forgotten. CP/M and DOS I haven't.

I would have responded in binary code but you have demonstrated a better knowledge than I currently have in a conversation with MathGirl in another thread so I will try to remain humble and just say thank you to my fellow authors.

to which I respond, 'my pleasure'.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I've been trying to knock some C++ into student heads before their exams next month. Makes writing look like a kindergarten topic...

Thinks: How many others around here earn their crust in the computing field?

I used to but I've retired. Now I write and sell books but not my own work. Sob!
