i have bought my wife a new computer w/win xp on it and we do not like corporations looking over our shoulders, or having to ask them for an ok to change things or to run whatever software i want to.

I'm avoiding everyting XP for the same reason.

You can load an earlier version but you may
have problems with drivers. I look forward
to the suggestions of others.
