President Joe Biden took office proclaiming, “America is back.” The idea, or conceit, had been that America was isolated, and isolationist, under the “America first” foreign policy of President Donald Trump.

What Biden and his advisers missed was that Trump presided over four years of peace, in which America’s enemies were in retreat.

By reversing Trump’s policies, Biden set the stage for the ongoing wars in the Middle East, and in Europe as well.

Let me hijack this thread for something more interesting.

The 2023 Dutch elections.
In november 2023 we voted for the Tweede Kamer (house of representatives)
The PVV (extremist conservative) VVD (Right) NSC (center right conservative) and BBB (conservative farmers) have come up with an agreement to form a coalition.

However.
We have no idea who will become prime minister. Geert Wilders, the PVV frontman, has been blocked. All other coalition members agreed to remain in the house and will not become prime minister either

So who will become the next prime minister in the Netherlands?
There were rumours that Ronald Plasterk would be suggested.
He was a left wing labour party member before, but he has swung hard to the conservative right. So much that neither the left nor right has any trust in him.
He has dropped out a few days ago.

As of right now we have an extremely conservative and far right coalition without anybody to lead them.
Personally I believe they will have a hard time finding anybody that wants to be prime minster, and will not be a puppet for Wilders

Another interesting fact. The VVD risks getting kicked out of their EU political group because of their cooperation with the PVV.
The VVD has completely betrayed their political allies from before, and is now on the brink of collapse.

Oh their political group? The liberals. Yes.
What Americans think of as left wing commies are far right here in the Netherlands.

Americans should never forget how insanely stupid their two party political system is.
