...about your posts?
Do you freak out if you find a mistake or just let it slide?
Do you correct mistakes no matter how old the post is?

I correct a mistake if I catch it within a few minutes of posting it, but beyond that, no.

Yep, that's me. If I see a mistake, especially a spelling error, I have to fix it right away.

I'm much more apt to just delete a post entirely. With some of them, I agonize over whether the joke is too stupid, or I'm revealing something too personal, or being too flirty... I used to take a lot of teasing from a friend because I used to delete my PMs to him before he could even read them. (This was back when you could delete PMs after you sent them.)

i detest errors, and when someone quotes a mistake it makes me slightly batty.

It's a complete 'mare, am anal about my posts being correct, but I don't always have the required knowledge to catch the goofs.

Major anal here, it doesn't matter how old the post is, if I spot it I have to fix it, I've even PMed people to edit a quote.

Ed's polls are the best 'cuz they're invisible many times.

Qman, you are truly cool!

I've also been known to correct myself when I'm IM'ing with someone.

I used to care, but since the problems with my wrist started, I really don't anymore. It's a lot more difficult and time consuming to type with one hand.

Sorry to hear about your wrist. Have you looked at either changing to an ergonomic keyboard or switching to Dvorak either for two handed typing or for one handed. I use a Dvorak myself after suffering for years with pain in the backs of my hands and in my wrists, especially after a long days typing, I can now type for up to 8 or 9 hours without any pains at all.

Take a look at Dvorak it could well be a method of improving your troubles.

There is a one-handed keyboard on the market. It's basically the left half of a normal keyboard, and you type with your left hand. There is a special bar (next to the space bar) and if you hold it down with your thumb, the entire keyboard changes to a mirror image of the right hand side of a normal keyboard.

It was invented so you could keep your right hand on your mouse, and they claim it is easy to master. If you have trouble with typing with your right hand, it could be a Godsend.......Carney

I edit technical mistakes if I catch them and haven't already been quoted, but generally proofread before submitting. I figure just about everyone makes a spelling error or typo every now and then, and as long as my posts are understandable, they're not worth worrying about too much.

I correct myself when chatting all the time, and that seems to be a common practice among those I chat with. I joke with one friend, who's big on proper English and constantly produces typos when rushed or distracted, that after all this time chatting I've learned to decipher even their most garbled messages, so correction/translation is no longer necessary.

Another friend has the annoying habit of deleting every few messages before sending them "because they just don't sound right" -- it's irritating to wait while 'JohnDoe is typing a message' only to have nothing arrive after a couple of minutes.

Yes. Anal about my posts. Hate it when I leave out words - usually small words.

A lot of Litsters could get their money's worth out of a one-handed keyboard.

I always do that! If a typo makes it past me and goes to IM I have to send the corrected word right away.

Me too, I can't stand to have mistakes. I also correct it right away, most of the time i catch it before I send, but if I send before I notice it, then I send the corrected word immediatly.

I'm so anal about spelling when I'm in IM chat with other people I correct their mistakes!

I've always had a weird thing about words, meanings and their origins.

thanks for the suggestion. My problem is only temporary and should only be plagueing (sp?) for the next few months. I managed to tear a piece of cartilage in my wrist and am currently awaiting surgery to get it fixed. I am getting a new keyboard at work though, but outside of that, my major typing occurs at the library now, so there's not really any options there.

I hate seeing my own spelling errors or typos and will change them if I can. What I really loathe is seeing my mistake quoted before I can edit it.

I correct myself when chatting too.

Yes, I correct myself to during IM.

I even apologize to the other person I'm chatting with.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I can't spell today."

Anal...who me?

Boy, don't I know what that's like! But my elbow is getting better, and I can multi-task like no one's business now...But I digress, I try to catch my mistakes while I'm writing, and then I'll preview all my blogs, posts, even IM's...I even text with correct spelling and grammer...I do however, use shorthand when I IM people, but that's about where that stops...except for lol, which has become part of my vocab...but I'm not anal or anything... :D

A slight change of pace.

How anal are you? Period.

In most things I can let it slide, but when it comes to something I care about I grind to a halt.
On Friday I went shopping for my wife, as usual I had no idea what I was going to get her even though she did give me a list of possibles. The list is nice, but it's not the same as me finding just the right gift, ( even though I have no idea what it will be until I see it ) anyway I spent four hours wandering from shop to shop and came home with nothing. Yesterday I tried again, conceded defeat and used the list, I did manage to find a few things not on the list and i was very picky about the things on the list.

I'm also anal about the pictures I do, I have an image in mind and usually if I can't get the picture to match then it doesn't get done.

I try to put a lot of thought into things I do for others, what I need to do is actually do them instead of rejecting everything I see (talking e cards in this instance ).

Ok that's cleared the air a bit, back to procrastinating, er, I mean waiting for creativity to hit.
