I've ruined all my plans for summer outings. I sprained my ankle badly and tore ligaments, now I'm on crutches for 6 weeks. By the time I'm off them school will be starting and family trips won't be possible.
How did I manage to do this you may ask? Well, I was cleaning out the pool when I heard my kids screaming and fighting in the house, I let it go for a few minutes thinking that they would work out whatever it was. After several minutes, when the blood curdling screams could be ignored no longer, I climbed up the ladder on the inside of the pool and in a hurry to get to the house to see who was killing who I jumped from the top step on the inside of the pool over the pool to the ground where I promptly found myself face down with my ankle twisted unnaturally behind me. I thought I had broken it for sure from the sound of the cracking when I hit the ground, which turned out to be the ligaments ripping.
Worse than that the kids still fighting so loudly inside they didn't hear my screams for help outside so I had to hop on one foot to the house.
Why I thought I could jump four feet onto wet grass I will never know.
I'm so bummed, we were going to take the kids to the zoo and their first baseball game in Cincinnatti next weekend, now the only thing close to baseball (aside from watching on TV) I see is the huge one on the side of my foot.
Anyone else having a bad week or summer wishing to join this pity party please feel free to join in.
