I've ruined all my plans for summer outings. I sprained my ankle badly and tore ligaments, now I'm on crutches for 6 weeks. By the time I'm off them school will be starting and family trips won't be possible.
How did I manage to do this you may ask? Well, I was cleaning out the pool when I heard my kids screaming and fighting in the house, I let it go for a few minutes thinking that they would work out whatever it was. After several minutes, when the blood curdling screams could be ignored no longer, I climbed up the ladder on the inside of the pool and in a hurry to get to the house to see who was killing who I jumped from the top step on the inside of the pool over the pool to the ground where I promptly found myself face down with my ankle twisted unnaturally behind me. I thought I had broken it for sure from the sound of the cracking when I hit the ground, which turned out to be the ligaments ripping.
Worse than that the kids still fighting so loudly inside they didn't hear my screams for help outside so I had to hop on one foot to the house.
Why I thought I could jump four feet onto wet grass I will never know.

I'm so bummed, we were going to take the kids to the zoo and their first baseball game in Cincinnatti next weekend, now the only thing close to baseball (aside from watching on TV) I see is the huge one on the side of my foot.

Anyone else having a bad week or summer wishing to join this pity party please feel free to join in.:(

Here's my peeve.

Why do they delete votes??? I had 76 votes on M.I.K.E., come online and now there's only 60.

One or two fair enough. But 16 votes??

Ugh!!!!!!

(Edit: Thank you literotica for the super fast response to my query. The explanation made a lot of sense.) ;-)

about 7 years ago, i was making a stained glass panel.. like i always do, i was barefooted. (you can see where this is headed)...
i had the most beautiful piece of glass that just wouldnt break the right cut and it kept shattering. pieces of the lovely glass were showering all over the place.
daughter comes out looks on the floor..

"mom, mom.. ohmygod!", says she
"ssshhhhh, babe, ill jsut be a moment," says me
"NO MOM! LOOK NOW!" screams she
so i look down... theres a huge pool of blood on the floor... oozing from my foot. i didnt even notice it.
daughter got a towel for me.. and i wrapped up my foot until i finished the stained glass piece.. NO way was i going to stop... when i was done i went to ER for removal of glass shards and many butterfly's

coulda been worse.. but damn i couldnt swim for two weeks..

EMPATHY.. from me to you.

Send them with Dad to all the outtings you planned. This will give you the holiday from the fighting and it will also show Dad what its like to spend hours of quality time with the kids keeping them entertained.
You both win, oh btw, when is the surgery? I did this 22 yrs ago and had to have the Tendons repared, cast for 6 weeks! Sorry to break it to you.
Cealy
Ps, now you know why I say let them go and you stay home with the computer and a good book.

Shit, I feel really bad now for having busted in on your thread Wicked. I thought this was a whinge thread.

(Just what is that you're licking Cealy???)

Eee, I don't know, you don't hear from her for months on end and when she does visit it's to give bad news. What are you like Wicked?

At least you have an excuse to sit in front of the PC for hours on end now;)

Get better quick (after the school holidays sounds good to me)

Ooohhhhhhhhhh DUH!!!!!!!

LOL ;-)

Sorry to hear about your accident, Wicked.

There's seems to be a lot of that going around.

A friend of mine did her leg in a couple of weeks ago. And her boyfriend did the same thing on the same day, in another part of the country.

Very weird.

Thank you all for your well wishes

The hug hit the spot, thanks.:rose:

Doormouse, this thread id for exactly what you posted. Come on in and let it all out.

Vella,
Funny how when people get wrapped up in something that even pain doesn't get through. Did it hurt at all, even after you noticed what had happened?

Cealy,
No mention of surgury...yet. I go back to doc next week. I'm sure he'll have someting to say about it then:(

Rgraham,
that is very weird:eek:

Gauche,
I thought about it and you're right ( as if anyone would think you wouldn't be).
I visit the threads almost daily but rarely put my two cents in. Most of the time I pop in, read quickly to see if anything peeks my interest, and pop out unnoticed. I guess I should have been giving "good" reports along the way as well.
As for responding to other threads, I do on occassion, but by the time I get to them my thoughts/feelings/advice have already been expressed by someone else so I feel why be redundant. I guess I can start just adding "ditto(insert name) to a thread that has already expressed my opinions.
I will, in the future, make my presence known more around here and be the bearer of more good news. Hell, you will probably get tired of seeing my face and my name.

Anyway, thanks for the reality check, and have a wonderful day:D

Wicked

You wrote them all down, didn't you? ;-)

doormouse bows to the princess of remembering what everyone said LOL

Good job there, Wicked :D

WooHOooooooo!!!! 36 more posts and I'm a guru!!!]

Guru of what, I'm not entirely sure, but hell, it's a target hehehe ;)

And sorry, I love seeing my posts close together watching the M.I.K.E. horsies racing..

And they're off...

doormouse promises to stay off the caffeine (for a day at least) ;-)

Well as soon as you become a Guru you'll probably need even more caffeine... :D

Snoopy

Doormouse,
Don't bow or make mention of my royalty in public it's still supposed to be a secret:cool:

I'm still shooting for the 1000 posts so I can piick a title. I don't think I'll ever make it. Seems like my numbers go backwards instead of forward:confused:

Wicked:kiss:

I'll help ya Wicked ;-)

Hi, nice meeting you.

In a separate post, tell me in one word or less your mood, and please, break the sentences (one word rule) LOL

Take heart, Wicked, about the surgery. I did basically the same thing to my ankle several years ago...doc said I tore every major ligament and tendon while managing not to break it (fell off a ladder, about 12 feet).

I was in an air-cast for 6 weeks, then a brace for another 6-8 weeks, then physical therapy, but no surgery.

 for your ankle.

Cloudy,
Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad that is is in the past and over with. Sounds encouraging though, I'm in an aircast now. I can always hope for no surgury.:)
