Houston rapist preys on men

not sure about that...

yes, the rape itself will be just as awful...but a lot of the pain is afterwards.

the "well you could've have fought hard enough!" crowd...because the victims were adult men, not frail women.
then they'll be tagged as homosexuals, emasculated...

i can get away from being around men, going to the ladies room, in shop/pool changing areas...but they've got nowhere to run to if the panic hits them. taking a pee break becomes a huge and distressing ordeal.

rape crisis help and support groups are almost all geared towards women. i've heard some real horror stories from guys trying to get help.

honestly, i really feel for these poor guys.

hope they catch the SOB soon.
I agree.

ppl please prey that this won't happen to me too.

Be careful TangO. Keep your head down and speak to no one. :(

i think i actually creep ppl out with my non-chalant, long face stir. i get too distracted to even realize i'm creep'n them out. plus, around my neck of the woods nobody misses with well-rounded strong chicanos unless it's other chicanos....or some craze filled katrina refugee from nu-awlins. did i mention my ass can tighten hard enough to break anything that dares too insert it's will?

Our latest serial killer was arrested a few weeks ago. He was a 42 year old man, whose victims were all men. His usual method was to entice men back to his trailer (yes, a trailer) for kinky sex. Once they were tied up, he raped them and then strangled them. He was arrested about 10 years ago for forcible rape of a man, but the case fell apart when the victim decided not to testify. After that, he strangled all his victims.

He managed to get straight men to cooperate by telling them his wife had a fantasy of having sex with a helpless man. The fools let him tie them up and after that it was easy. His victims were mostly young men, homeless or unemployeed. Most were not reported missing.

He is credited with 23 deaths over about 10 years.

5'6" to 6' tall, lol.

There's so much info I wanted that they're not giving here.

I'm not sure how I feel about this turning me on just a little bit.

what about it? As a man I know of some men who could not stop this from happening.... but they are very few. And to make the mistake like that could get the Rapist killed fast.... so he most have really searched his victims I guess?

Try googling for "rape counseling for men" and you get a ton of sites telling men how "Not" to date rape women and that "no" means no. Here are some links for help for anyone here who might need them.

A non-profit organization dedicated to healing male survivors of rape and sexual abuse:
http://www.malesurvivor.org/
A site with info on male sexual assault survivor issues and resources:
http://www.xris.com/survivor/msa/

In the UK, one of the best support services for help for men is RASAC((Rape And Sexual Abuse Counselling), formally known as Winchester Rape Crisis).
http://www.rasac.org.uk/
For women & MEN affected by:
Rape. Incest. Acquaintance Rape. Childhood Sexual Abuse. Date Rape. Sexual Assault. Male Rape. Sexual Violence of any form. Sexual Harassment. Any unwanted sexual encounter.
They have separate helplines for men and women. The women's line is only answered by women. The men's by women and men. The numbers and hours for calling are at the above link.

You talkin' to me, Mecha?

I know that rape is a horrible experience. I've worked with sexually abused kids for many years. I've treated rape victims--of both genders, actually--as an EMT. I've had friends and at least one gf who were rape survivors. I don't find rape amusing. I do find awful puns amusing, however, and I've learned that one way to stay sane in a world that allows such cruelty between people is to find a way to laugh. Atmas and I were talking once about why Jack Kerouac drank himself to death, and he suggested that it might be that he was "too sensitive for the world he lived in." I temper my deep sensitivity to the abused and downtrodden with a kind of calloused humor.

Just sayin.

And you're absolutely right for speaking up.

Where the hell did you find that quote, Mr. Perg?
I don't remember where I first saw it. It's tucked away among the "sick but true" detritus in my attic of a brain.

I also think that rape is kinda worse for guys because as women, we are raised knowing that something like this can happen. From a very young age we are warned in a way that boys are not to be careful of men and to stay in groups, etc. We hear stories or know girls that are raped or molested. The information on how to keep yourself safe is out there. We are given pepper spray by family and friends that love us. (if you grow up in Texas in the country like I did, you are taught how to handle a firearm and you carry it in your vehicle in case you get stranded in the middle of nowhere) I don't think boys/men ever really consider that they could be a victim of this type of crime. I think that must make it even harder to deal with the aftermath of the crime when a boy/man is attacked. I know a couple of guys that were molested and neither of them have ever really found any peace in themselves. One is an alcoholic and the other is only capable of the most superficial of relationships due to severe trust issues. I am not saying it is impossible for them to heal, but I do think that resources for help are limited and they have a range of problems not covered by the types of treatment that women get.

Yeah. But if this was a story about a woman being raped, no one would dare make jokes, except Eating_scarlett maybe.

I'm sorry, this makes me uneasy.

It scares me that the description of the perp is so vague. Nobody really gets a look at him or they are so scared they don't remember details well. The idea he might be picking his victims carefully by following them, learning their patterns & schedules is even more disturbing. Nutballs like this usually start with assault & rape & when the thrill wears off, they go that next step & start to murder. If there are other victims I hope they come forward & offer more details. If they are a victim of rape, they should be shielded by privacy laws. Not that it always happens.

Myth: Only gay men sexually assault other men. Reality: Most men who sexually assault other men identify themselves as heterosexual. This fact helps to highlight another reality -- that sexual assault is about violence, anger, and control over another person, not lust or sexual attraction.
-------------

Not a dig at anyone or anything but the gender selection has to come into it at some point. If the rapist was only in it for power, etc, then the victims would be spread amongst men and women and not focus largely on one group as is often the case.

It seems to me that raping another man would be an even bigger power-trip than raping women or children, since men are seen as more powerful. One would expect the really hard-core power-seekers to go after the toughest prey: men. (Yet another reason to think that male-rape is probably fairly common, despite the relative scarcity of men pressing charges.)

Jokes about women being raped will never be understood or forgiven even as a parody of jokes about men being raped.

I'm beginning to wonder if women can ever evolve far enough to be held to the same codes of conduct as men. Perhaps it's just genetically not possible to bear children and not want some manner of special princess treatment.

It's that simple.

Because if it wasn't about sexual attraction/orientation at all it would be reasonable to say that it would become a matter of targets of opportunity instead of focusing predominately on one gender. Other issues come into play too of course but far too often people want to take the sexual aspect out of it and deem it as violent act. But if that is so then why the sexual act? Other means are as effective to control and terrorize a victim.
