House Porn: Homes that make me wet

I was very happy in.my humble little abode until this thread started lol.
But im loving it, so many amazing houses :)

I'm having so much fun looking at and sharing all these photos.

It really is so much fun. My Saturday morning ritual used to be a coffee and looking through the real estate section at all the beautiful places for sale.

I have been thinking about what homes are likely to be in the future. I start with the assumption that there will be frequent population movement, with climate change and seasonal change. Many homes will be more portable or quickly built with local materials and hand tools. In windy areas (prairies, steppes, hurricane zones, etc.) rectangles get battered and destroyed faster than circles. So portable and round. One common solution is the yurt.

In houses designed to stay where they're built, western framing may disappear as the energy cost of milling a large quantity of studs, joists, and other bits becomes more expensive than post-and-beam, stacked logs, rammed earth, etc., but post-and-beam requires large pieces of timber that may not be available, since so many old growth forests have been clearcut.

I'm a huge fan of yurts.
I want to build one on our property to house guests and seasonal workers. We stay in them frequently when we travel and they're so comfortable.

Consider it my gift to you.
I would love to be Oprah rich and buy my friends and family their dream homes 😍.
Fun fact- I paid off my MIL's mortgage as a baby announcement. We knew she wanted to retire and had been waiting for grandkids. When we got pregnant, we managed to pull off the biggest sneak of the century. We presented her with the loan payoff note and told her that she could retire if she wanted. When that sunk in, we explained that she was going to need a lot more free time to spend with her first grandchild. It was one of the best moments of my life.

Well, shucks.
It's all about clean lines and natural fibers with a dash of the unexpected.
Plus, this is way more socially acceptable to participate in whilst drinking coffee at my local cafe. 😎

I like a nice simple house. For me it's more about the location. I like to think the railroad tracks are no longer used, but every ten years a ghost train goes by. Maybe when I'm super old, it stops to pick me up.
I'm very much a location, location, location shopper.

I've lived by railroad tracks. If they're still active, it's a pain in the ass. They're noisy neighbors. How are ghost trains noise wise?
