Hottest Women of All Time

The magazine achieved the objective of all carnival barkers; it got the rubes, the gawkers and the rubberneckers to look at the circus sideshow.

<<<The Top Ten looks like this:
1. JA
2. Raquel Welch
3. Marilyn Monroe
4. Britney Spears
5. Madonna
6. Ursula Andress
7. Bettie Page
8. Pamela Anderson
9. Jane Fonda
10. Angelina Jolie

Boy do I disagree. Ok, Jennifer Anniston is cute and perky but I don't think she falls into the "hottest of all time" category. Briteny Spears? Crap unless you're 12 years old. Pam Anderson, what a waste. She tries too hard. Madonna, give me a break.

For me, I'd put Angelina Jolie at or close to the top because she's more than just a pretty face and she's got one hell of a lot more mystery and erotic potential than Jennifer Anniston. Where does Sophia Loren fall in the vote? She was hot because she didn't try to be hot. She just had, still has, beauty and class. How about Catherine Deneuve? Same era, same class. For me, there's more to being highly desirable (Hot?) than just a body. Elizabeth Taylor... There are, were many others. Oh well, to each his own.

'Men's Health' mag is Cosmo for guys ... and I use the word 'guys' loosely. What's the median age of that mags readership anyway? 25? Of all time? Cah'mon! Women such as Gloria Swanson, Audrey Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Marlene Detrich, Ginger Rogers, Betty Grable, Lupe Velez, Clara Bow and Greta Garbo would put any of those 'Top 10' women in the shade. :D

mmHmm

I agree with Michelle Pfeiffer but I wonder why not Madeline Stowe, Emmanuel Beart and many others.

Madeleine Stowe, mmmmmmmmmm........

Two things on that:
1. I have never actually read a copy of that 'Men's Health' and I definately will not after this article.

2. They missed an opportunity for education, that's what makes me think it sucks. They threw a bunch of names their readership likes or knows, instead of showing them what else is out there, or to show them what they have been missing. Sad times for media.

I dunno, she was almost before my time, but I've seen some of Natalie Wood's movies in the past, and oh..my...God

And, for the opposite end of the spectrum, and still incredibly beautiful, gotta give props to Jenna Jameson

how's that for diverse?

:D

I don't think she (JA) deserves the number one spot at all, I think what we have here is the woman most in the spotlight when this poll was done. If it was recent, she was splattered all over every magazine cover and television for the popular movies, Bad bosses and one with Adam Sandler as the hot pretend wife, prior. Sorry I'm too lazy to look it up. Just wondering how likely it was she was front and center on the tv or other type of media when these votes were cast.

Just my silly rambling thoughts....

Yay! :D

Always one of my favorite screen ladies...

Exactly what I was thinking.

And, by contrast...thanks for the names in this thread. :)

Those names and Google Images just educated me further tonight as I looked up each one I didn't recognize. Most enjoyable to see the variety.

Hommina...

Funny.

I have to say that my standards for "hot" don't include "too far away for me to sense that temperature." As lovely as Gina Lollobrigida, Faye Dunaway, and Cate Blanchette are, they aren't in touching distance.

So, not exactly "hot."

One of the hottest women of all time on my list is a head nurse at a Southern California Pediatric hospital, a political activist, and burlesque dancer. fuuuck what a body! And a brain! And a shining Irish Lassie from top to toe.

Jeniffer Aniston is a weird choice. Not that she's not a handsome woman, but to my eyes she's as un-hot as you can get while being nice to look at.

But dunno, really. Waiting for the list of men. While Stella has a point, I’m willing to do some objectification from afar. ;)

Well, that's what surprised me when I looked through the list. Hepburn, Grable, and Clara Bow are all on it. And so are Rita Hayworth, Lilli St Cyr, Veronica Lake, June Wilkenson, Jean Harlow, and other women you wouldn't expect to see in a poll of a bunch of 25 year-olds. Someone out there knows their female iconography.

The omission of Bergman, Dietrich, and Garbo seemed wrong too, but then, Bergman was never really sexy (nuns and innocent wives were her strong suit, weren't they?), and while Dietrich and Garbo were gorgeous and very sexual, I don't know if I'd consider them "hotties."

I was surprised Diana Rigg wasn't on the list, though. Not enough American film, maybe.

Leeched ladies of the modern era.

Pictures or gtfo, 'cause no proof.-----^

So, I have to add Jessica Biel even though she is a terrible actress:

I mean, seriously, look at that.--^

And Brittany Daniel:

Good times.

jayne mansfield?

They need a wider sampling of men if this is hottest women of "all time." I'm sure most of the guys who answered have never seen Clara Bow or Madame Gautreau (John Sargent's painting titled: "Madame X"). And I'm in agreement with PayDay. Why all the whiteys? Where's Anna May Wong? Lena Horne?

All time is a damn long time! I think this poll was rigged.

Clara Bow's in there. Halle Berry, Dorothy Dandridge, Beyonce, and even Pam Grier ("the Female Shaft!") made the list, and some other black model whose name I can never remember. I don't know if it's possible for the subject of a painting to be a "hottie", hourglass figure or not.

I'd be interested in seeing how a woman would list them. I'd be interested in seeing lists of the hottest men too, one made by men and one made by women.

Rube (n. Am. circus slang, ca 1930's): a person who isn't sexually aroused by graphs.

Folks, do yourselves a favor and Google Bettie Page and look at images. Oh my!

She was truly a hottie. Early in 2000 or maybe 2001, Playboy ran an article of the hottest women of the 20th Century. Betty came in third. MM was first and Jayne Mansfield was second.

I suspect that, as is the case all too often, an American magazine considers the "World" to be limited to the USA (for the most part, at least).

They'd obviously not heard of Rita Loonen or Corine Rotschaeffer:-

Some folks considered the divine BB to be 'hot' (I'd vote for Catherine Denueve, myself).
But not having Hepburn in the top ten is unforgivable !

Is that Audrey Hepburn or Katherine? Or both? They were very attractive women, but I certainly would not place either in the top ten hotties of all time.

I take your point.
Further thought after I'd posted made with wonder about a definition of 'hot'.

Personally, I'd settle for truly beautiful. [Audrey]

I didn't read the whole list ... at least some of their readers appreciate real beauty ... or are film buffs.

Hmmm ... upon reflection, I can see Bergman as not being ranked as 'sexy' ... as you said, she had more of a 'classic' look and was well cast in her roles.

Dietrich and Garbo were sensuality personified ... 'The Blue Angel' comes to mind ... several clicks up from 'hotties', which tend to be the 'Flavor of the Month'.

How could I have omitted Mrs. Peel from my list ... that leather outfit ... Grrouf! :D

I also omitted Tallulah Bankhead ... bad ol' me ... she was another sensual beauty ... if memory serves, she, Dietrich and Garbo also liked women ... nothing like spreading the wealth. ;)

And the heavens hath heard thy prayers, and produced an offering in return.

Now we're talking hotness, I was waiting for someone to mention her: Some leeched photos of the Avengers star:

Mmm.. m.. mmmm...

In there. Surprisingly low down, though. In the 60's maybe. I think Jayne's bimbo act just didn't age that well.

Geronimo_Appleby brought Jayne Mansfield to the party and you, Dr M made the comment that I'm quoting ... OK so far and I sort of agree with you. Jayne was pretty but I've got a woman who is usually listed in the Top 50 on all lists and rightly so. I'm lucky to know her personally and she too is a well known actress and the daughter of Jayne Mansfield.

Here's to Mariska Hargitay a true beauty.
