Hot flag question

I have searched on here and can not fond the answer.
Some of my stories have a small red flag or icon at the bottom that reads 'HOT' when I look at their metrics. Even some with lower ratings and fewer reads will have this flag sometimes.

What causes this flag to get assigned to a story?

At least ten votes and a rating of at least 4.5.

At least ten votes and a rating of at least 4.5.

This. It can vanish if the rating drops below 4.5.
