Well anyway, from 7:30 til 11:30 AM I was at the local hospital observing what xray techs do when they go to work.
Lots of big funny looking machines around in there. It's damn cold in the radiology department too. A little over 60 degrees.
Well I saw 2 chest Xrays. We went and picked up the patient from their room and brought em in and too the pics and sent them back to bed. One was a man and the other was a woman.
The man's xray had to be done over cuz his second pic didn't show up well.
Then we saw an IVP. It's basically an ray of the kidneys.
They injected 2 big ol syringes of contrast and then started taking pics. The problems started soon after as the old machine decided to have difficulties and it took a while to finally get some clear pics.
We went and did a foot xray on a woman who had injured her foot. they did the xray in her room with a portable machine.
Later on they brought a woman in that needed a check of her gall bladder so they did a ECRP I think it is. sticking a camera down her esophagus and looking at the GB directly. they had to inject contrast in her as well.
They explained what they did in getting the pics taken and what they did with the pics after they took then and before they gave them to the doctors.
They told us what machines did what and pointed things out on the xrays to us.
All in all it was very enjoyable.
I hope I get accepted!
