"A certain someone who's been acting extremely bold toward you lately isn't just playing games. This is the kind of thing that can really last. Are you ready?"
------- -----------

Actually looked at my horoscope today. Are these things written by the same people who do fortune cookies? Some kind of "vague phrase" mafia? I hope they're not talking about a serial killer or a stalker or something. :)

You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style. :D

i always thought you were a bit different...

Leo
It's time to learn something you've always been dying to know about -- and if you're smart, you'll really dig deep to learn everything about it. Let your imagination run free. Go for it.

my imagination is running rampant.

and for you taurus out there:

Quickie:
You wouldn't buy the first pair of shoes you saw. Why treat people any differently?

Overview:
If you've been involved in something that's less than fit for public knowledge, better prepare for it to be revealed -- which might be a good thing. Aren't you tired of avoiding the issue?

i think all of lit would love to see more of you revealed... *grin*

Ever look up the horoscopes of the people in the obits, for the day they died?

Great changes are due to happen for you today takes on a whole new meaning!

"Some of your self-care practices have slipped by the wayside. Compensate for your recent neglect. Everyone benefits when you're well tended."

"A small mistake today could have grave consequences in the future..."

"You can gain valuable perspective on the petty difficulties of your life by an unexpected path."

:D

It's especially funny if you do the fortune cookie game of adding the words "in bed" after every horoscope . . . though if you're still doing in response to obituaries, it could get kind of yucky.

It had better only be my bare body being revealed, cause I have some skeletons, so that creeps me a little.

Well, then no. I mean, I can understand that, uh, it would be, uh, no.

Heh.

Cdog: I do think it's funny. I don't read the obits, but I don't think I'd ever have thought of reading a late one's horoscope. Ya made me larf. P.

cant, you are extremely twisted.

Delightfully so.

There have been some good ones.

I was there attending them when the dying made their final dashes to the hospital, hundreds of times over my ten years on the ambulance. I didn't have to wait for the obits. I had their birthdays as a part of the run sheet record.

It was always the day before's paper.

I admit, starting from a list in the paper, it would take a twisted mind. But did you ever notice that all those people die in alphabetical order?

thats how i kept track of my cardiac patients...
not only do they die alphabetically, they also look like they did 20 years before they died. go figgah.

Twisted is often just a code for "employed in a medical field."

Love you vella, you hairpin. Some people are so twisted, yanno, that when they die you don't need to dig, you just screw them into the ground. :)

Hairpins are just kinky, is all.

Sarahh!

Wanna hear a great deathday horoscope?

"Oh, how you want to break free! That could be why it's hard to concentrate. Though people are moving their mouths and words seem to be coming out, you're not getting what they have to say. Plan a vacation."

Fucked up, but there it is.

Ouch.

Well now I'm in a quandry.

If horoscopes aren't really true then where can we go to seek answers to the meaning of life???

The Magic 8-Ball?

Oh fuck! That's excellent!

You naughty girl - how ya been?

Good - NaNo-ing, ya know...haven't been around all that much, but I've missed you!

Actually, the 8-ball is useful.

I like the I Ching, but the 8-ball is the same idea.

All those flip-a-coin, or more sophisticated (like I Ching or tarot) sorts of oracles are good if you lack data.

If you honestly cannot know enough to make an informed decision, the problem contains too many unknowns or imponderables, then your intelligence is stymied. You might as well decide randomly, at that point. I think, though, you do better if you can somehow consult your "gut."

I think gut feelings, intuitions without foundation, whatever you want to call them, may be access to a reasoning which is below your conscious reach. You may have smelled something or seen something that you don't remember because you filtered it. You may have heard a story once years ago about someone in an analogous situation, but you haven't applied it to the problem because it just didn't occur to you.

Or, there may be Luck, or God, or whatever, in the universe.

Either way, invite it. With no data, you have nothing to lose consulting an oracle. I Ching and tarot are not just yes/no oracles, either, but evocative nonsense.

For example:

Will I get laid tonight?

I Ching:

--Strife--
When ego attaches to a point of view the result is Strife.
Realizing everything is relative, he seeks either to embrace
a radically different perspective, or to find an objective
mediator. He prefers working toward resolution to
attempting to prevail.

--Light stone in the place of Conscience--
Though he has sufficient power to prevail, engaging in Strife
will not get him what he most desires. Content simply to
maintain his personal integrity, he attains inner peace.

This is, objectively, nothing to do with the question. But it evokes a train of thought, it kicks you into thinking of something different or trying to relate your difficulty to a new and unexpected idea.

"...engaging in strife will not get him what he most desires..." and also "When ego attaches to a point of view the result is Strife."

Suddenly you think, maybe I want this too much, and I'm not thinking about the larger context. Maybe I ought to be thinking instead how to evoke a desire in her to get me laid.. "..working toward resolution rather than attempting to prevail."

But whatever the question was, some left-field kind of oblique answer like the I Ching always gives can be something that shakes you out of the rut your thinking was in, because you will of course try to make the irrelevant "answer"apply to the question somehow.

Or, you could just be inviting Luck into the problem.
