Ladies,
Was wondering if any of you are doing this, and what kinds (if any) problems you have had with it. My gyn. just put me on it, and barely told me anything. I can't seem to find anything about it online, except how they use it for prostate cancer. Help, anyone?

What? I leave for a week, and suddenly no one around here is helpful anymore? wtf?

This was NOT what I had in mind for an answer. Was looking for some HELP.

I don't know anything about it, sorry. Did you do a search on google?

I've used every search engine I can think of, and all I can come up with is stuff on hormone suppression therapy used in men as treatment for prostate cancer. I need answers, and can't get them. I'm so frustrated all I can do at this point is cry.

He gave me Aygestin....to try to stop endometrial tissue build up.

Is there another name? I can't find that in my CPS (drug book)

Generic name is Norethindrone. He told me I won't have my period for a while?

I suggest you make another appt with your doctor and ask him/her the questions you want to know. :)

AYGESTIN

Description: To properly regulate the menstrual cycle and treat unusual stopping of the menstrual periods (amenorrhea). After the amount of progestins in the blood drops, the lining of the uterus begins to come off and vaginal bleeding occurs (menstrual period). To treat a condition called endometriosis or ...

More commonly known as Progestin

Thanks you Brat!!! Much much appreciated.

I used to have it...this time they think I'm having abnormal bleeding between periods with serious pain every period. They want to elimitate as much tissue build up as possilbe, thus reducing the pain and preventing as much scarring as possible.

Ah, now THAT sounds more familiar. A friend of mine got some drug that was to do the same thing. It stopped her normal hormones and essentially threw her into a temporary menopause for however many months- 6, I think. After that, she had the surgery to go in and clean out the excess tissue from the endometriosis. She was trying to get pregnant, and this was one step in the process to try to get her fertility back. After she was off the drug, her system went back to "normal."

He mentioned putting my uterus in a "menopause" like state, without the hot flashes and night sweats, etc. Then afterwards I could be able to get preganant if I want.

Hmmmm... maybe it is a different drug. My friend was told the opposite, that the drug WOULD put her into menopause with all of the same things you'd have in "real" menopause- hot flashes, etc. And she DID have them while she was on it.
