I'm going to my first hockey game tomorrow night. Someone I do business with has some great seats set aside for clients, and he offered them to me the other day. So a buddy and I are going.

I've always hated hockey. But I love going to sports arenas. I'll even sit through a basketball game if I'm there live.

(Is any game more boring than basketball? Score! Score! Score! Score! Score! Score! Score! Score! Another Score! What's it been? Like 30 seconds? Score! Score! Etc.

The loser is the team that gets tired of scoring first.)

I like being in the crowd. Being a guy. Buying beer and dogs. Peeing in a cement room without a dude handing me a towel for tips. The size of the arena. The closeness of the action.

Do you prefer your sports on TV, or live?

God...after having 80 billion sports channels on TV...I can barely tolerate sports...it also doesn't help when you live with a sports addict!!

But I love going to games live, cause I can people watch...ooops, nope sorry, I missed that play/fight/goal but did you see that blonde lady down there...how the hell can she wear that in public??

My husband took our son to the Calgary Flames/Vancouver Canucks game right after Christmas and we are friends with the capt of the Calgary team...so while my son was standing next to the glass when they warmed up, the capt skated over and bashed the glass in front of my son...my son thought it was great! And he thought it was even neater when the other kids around him started buzzing about how lucky he was!

Which game are you going to DCL? Hockey is a great sport to watch live...have fun!

Hockey is my favorite sport and I love seeing it live. Dosen't compare to tv. (Go Wings) :D

L.A. against Nashville. I didn't even know L.A. had a hockey team. I mean, it's too hot here to make ice. What the hell do they play on? These are things I'm looking forward to learning.

And I thought you were going fairy hunting at "A Midsummer Night's Dream"....

*shaking head* sheesh...don't you even know who Wayne Gretzky is?? He put the LA Kings on the map, baby!!

hope you enjoy the game.
i have seen lots of games on television, but never live.
i just dont like large crowds.

maybe an out of play puck will go your way and you will have a souvenier of you first game.

sounds great.

Hockey is the second best sport in the world, next to baseball. dont count on getting a puck tough, you might, but don't expect it.
And the higher up seats are MUCH better, becasue you can see everything. I've sat next to the ice a few times with "free seats", and they sucked, becasue even though your close to teh players, you dont' know waht's going on, wtihout looking at the big screen up above.

HOCKEY, the coolest game on earth!

Well, let's see, I just checked my tickets, and I'm in row 20, in section 110. What the hell that means I have no idea. I wonder if the Staples Center has a web site with a seating chart? Hmm.

*Gone Google. Back in Five.*

Okay, so, as a first time live Hockey spectator, what can I expect? Baseball has the 7th inning stretch. Football's got a halftime show. What's Hockey got?

three periods...
DCL I'd suggest going to NHL.com, you'll learn enought o get you in the door. They do quiz you when you walk in, ya know.

Damn. You don't suppose there will be any categories like "Movies with Hockey in Them", do you? I can pass that section.

lisa got me liking hockey i saw a game with her so now im a big maple leafs fan :) (well kinda) ... i still prefer football as my first sport (english football) but hockey is my second sport

is there meant to be some kind of myth about canadian girls that love hockey ? i remember hearing that somewhere but lisa wont tell me what it is :)

notice i call it hockey ... not ice hockey as its called in england (i get slapped if i call it ice hockey :))

That's great DCL. Hope you have a great time. I've only been to one hockey game. It wasn't bad. Very noisy, and I'm convinced the home team cheated! And somebody stole our seats. LOL But I hope you enjoy it.

Hey... you'll love it! Hubby and I are huge fans of the Nashville Predators... been to 7 games this season, going to another in a couple of weeks against Anahiem. Hockey has 3 periods. If it's anything like Nashville's games, there is so much action, between the crowd and the Jumbo-Tron constantly going, the game is almost an after-thought. Dress in long sleeves to keep warm. You'll have a great time!

Lisa

You'll have a great time, DCL. My son and I are hockey fans. It's such a fast sport that you'll be kept busy during the whole game. I happen to be a Philadelphia Flyer's fan as we're from that area originally.

Just wait until you see some of the checking they do. It could literally take your breath away. lol They smash each other into the sides and push their faces against the plexiglass. It's just awesome! lol Their skating is amazing, too, if you stop and think about what they're doing. I mean, I can't even walk and chew gum let alone skate and keep control of a puck. lol

Have a fantastic time, DCL. I'll be thinking about you.

Enchanted

I prefer live action!

Hockey is my favorite spectator sport, and there is nothing as exciting to me as being at the game LIVE and in person!

I had season tickets to the NY Rangers for years, but had to give them up after 16 seasons because of the length of the season and the extraordinarily high prices!

Enjoy yourself, DCL! Keep your eye on the puck (if you can)!

Been about six years since my last Kings game. Too far to drive now (2500 miles, in Red Wing country).

As for between periods, up here at the college hockey games, between period entertainment involves a lucky fan with a shopping cart, running around the ice trying to catch coupons being dropped from a remote control blimp. It's quite funny.

Lobito is telling you wrong DCL. Right down on the boards is where you want to be, that's where the actions at. Hip checks into the boards toothless smiles as the spit flies. Have fun.

It will help if you learn the rules first though.:)
