Homosexual slang

I'm weird and I like to know the origins of slang terms we use. For example a homosexual can be called a fag or a faggot, it is a dreogatory term in refernce to the brittish term faggot meaning a bundle of sticks or twigs used to start a fire. Back in the dark ages of men minds homosexual were also burned alive, hence the connection. Also calling someone a flamer or a flaming homosexual is a similar reference. a lesibian is in reference to the homosexual female poets of the island of lesbos of acient greece. But a Dyke it don't get it, the first time I heard someone being called a dyke I tought what she is a small dam WTF. Or gay I never found homosexuals to be any happier than straights or bisexuals. Help me out here I desire knowledge
