... sucks.

I am so goddamn homesick since yesterday, i spent 3h on the phone to my parents today and at the moment I just want to be back home.
I miss decent food, I miss the snow, my guinea pig, my bed, the scent of our house, I miss my granny calling at 7.00am to check if I'm awake yet, I miss the sound of my parents coming home from work knocking on my door and giving me a hug. I miss good TV.

I just want to go home....

sorry for the ranting

yeah.... 5.5hrs flight from home (incl. changing planes at a hub).

being homesick sucks royally.

I think I understand homesickness very well...I started working for this company before you were born.......I began Jan 21, 1979

Since that time I have worked in 23 states, traveled through all 48 continental states and have lived 14 of them for more than one month......I have been married since 1981 and have a two girls one 13 and one 15........

It get very lonley to set in a motel or a apartment day after day by yourself...........

But the trips home are oh so good.................

The Breast Man.....I know how you feel

thank you mr tuna :) ,

i certainly look forward to going home again - which will probably not happen until may. but for now i might as welll just sit through my exam panic and stuff my face with chocolate and cashew nuts.

May I recommend jelly belly jellybeans - I have found them to be great for homesickness and exam panic (as well as term-paper hysteria). Good luck!

but for now i might as welll just sit through my exam panic and stuff my face with chocolate and cashew nuts.

Being homesick is so hard because nothing cures it- well, besides finding home, once again. What I've done in the past consisted of writing letters, looking at photo albums, and simply, crying.
It does get easier. Some days. Some days, not so easy.
Hang in there!

Sending big, warm, tight, comforting cyberhugs!

We ALL get a bit homestick sometimes. Having family in another country isn't as easy as flying across the country to see your parents. Being homesick is one of the reasons my Wife, Daughter and I are going back "home" to Guatemala in March. With a side trip to Belize. Cant wait to be laying on the beach.

homesickness is a bitch. *hug* i know how you feel. i didn't like it at home very much so i couldn't imagine ever missing it. but then i did. it wasn't so much my family, but i missed my friends and my bed and being able to make a sandwich when i was hungry and not having to wear sandals in the shower.

my suggestion is to make where you are more home like. make your dorm room your home. i put up a lot of pictures and a bunch of my favorite poems all over my closet door and the wall by my bed. i bought a small potted plant and put it on my desk. i found a poster i absolutely loved and put that up. i have a magazine ad that i thought was really pretty on the ceiling above my bed so i wake up to a gorgeous view. it's not an instant fix, but when you go about making your room a personalized place instead of a temporary shelter it can really help.

Great suggestions lexie.

Dear All,

thanx for your lovely posts ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))).
I've been in the UK since 1998 and never really that homesick, but now being a finalist a uni and all that added stress really did it for me.
My dorm room already looks like my room at home :D chaotic, cool and cosy. My dad called me this morning again and told me again and again that I can fly home whenever I want to but I think I will be fine (and anyways, I got exams on the 23rd and 28th so I cant really fly home) but it is great to know that I could if I really wanted to.
I also stocked big time up on chocolate and chemical food products (Haribo Bears and Berty Botts Every Flavour Beans - as suggested - though the first one I tried was Horseradish - yuck hehe)

Thank you again guys for listening to all my ranting, I hope it my homesickness will be forgotten in a few days.

Yours saintly,
LDWAH

Homesickness...

It always goes away. That is all I can say. It is going to hurt for a time.

Guys get it too. I cried many a time I left loved ones behind for whatever reason.

It always goes away.

Hang in there. Stay in touch with your loved ones. Try writing REAL letters, the old fashioned kind. You can't hold an email in the same way you can hold a letter. You can't smell home in an email.

It goes away.

:(
