I've seen a bunch of people make reference to how places like Home Depot are like the x-rated Toys R' Us...I'm curious on what people use (and what for) that you can't find at the nearest sex shop. I know they have a bunch of rope and chain choices, but am I missing something, there's got to be more than that, that causes the appeal to hardware stores...just curious.

Also, I'm curious if anyone has ventured into actually making homemade stuff. I did my first attempt at making a whip with small chains and feathers..It looks alright but I'm trying to figure out what other possibilities are out there that are relatively simple to do without a ton of work.

The possibilities are endless really, Home Depot, like any hardware place, is only limited by your creativity.

While i haven't shopped their for sex toys, in the past it has been a gold mine for all things dangerous and home made, the two ingredients that will leave any physics major gasping for air.

One word of advice, know your harmfully chemicals and what items have been treated with them.

I have a pretty endlessly creative imagination. For the life of me, past the obvious (or seemingly so anyway) stuff, I can't think of the attraction. I totally see how it's an awsome place to get stuff to make cool shit, just not seeing where it can be all that great for prop purposes. Maybe I just haven't allowed myself to walk through much of the store because I'm paranoid if I find anything interesting then the checkout people will know my ulterior motice I have in mind for whatever I find.

Lol, this makes me think of those crazy crazy sex machine videos that use stuff like power saws with dildos attached. Never ever done it, looks way to scary.

There is plenty of other stuff in these places though, I remember plenty of homemade items being used in the past, specifically a spreader bar, some benches, and extra strength velcro just to name a few.

we have several nice whips made of high end kite rods and a very pretty flogger made of large rubber bands. Fuck Home Depot. we can have a blast shopping at dollar store. Cheap kitchen gear, rope, dog toys, the possibilities are endless. Daddy likes to take me to back of store to try stuff out before we buy (teehee).

Our local hardware store is also a tack supply store. Which means they have horse supplies. And leather working tools.

For the whips, what are the handles made of, and how do you make or attach them?

Or, for that matter, what are the whippy-parts made of?

Did you get the big rubber bands at the hardware store? I'd like to make a rubber flogger similar to that, but haven't seen rubber bands that big and can't think of another way to get my hands on a sheet of rubber easily.

Speader bars are easy. Thick wooden dowel, cut to your specific measurement needed and simple eyelets. Screw eyelets into the (sanded down) ends of your dowel and voila! You can stain/varnish/make pretty all you like as well.

We found the hardware to put overhead attachment points in a garage of one of our (rented..teehee) homes. Not good enough for full suspension, but at least arms above the head sort of stuff. Other simple fasteners to clip things together (a buck instead of like 5 or 10 at a sex shop, we've found at least around here).

Cheap plastic sheeting to put under the sub if you're doing wax play. Hell, even get the emergency candles and one of those automatic click lighters.

Breast vice is easy too. Two pieces of wood the correct size, sanded down and treated as you like. Two large screws and those spinny things to tighten it as you please. (Don't mind the nontechnical jargon, I have no idea what the names are lol)

Ummm that's all I've got at the moment as to simpler projects. We've got plans lying around for things like St. Andrew's Cross, cages, spanking bench, etc but don't have the money to do them!

We don't have Home Depot, but do have similar places to what I think it is. We have bought a lot of materials for making things as well as a few things already useful as they are including carpet beaters, insect zapper racquets, snake and insect bite kits, thick wooden breadboard with handle which makes a perfect paddle, headhones and also earplugs for sensory deprivation, strong clamps, ropes, chains, and my favourite, the wallpaper stripper with all those sharp metal spikes on a roller with a nice long handle....there is still a list of things we intend getting. I have an aversion to buying from an adult stores/sites unless it is absolutely unavailable anywhere else cheaper and that covers very few things.

The rubberband flogger idea is ingenius to me, I love it! That is definately up there in things to think about for the next project. The more i look at what I attemtpted last night, the happier I am with it, It definately has a "novice" look about it, but oh well...I went to Michaels(craft store) for the materials..not that great of a selection but hey what I was intending for was accomplished so that's all that matters in the end.

Well the handles are another hardware store necessity that should be in every bodies black bag, black electrical tape. I always keep at least a couple of rolls on hand. Its great for everything. Just wrap it around repeatedly and you have a handle. Make it as big or small as suits you. The rods I used for those crops are from high end kites but use your imagination and you will see whips every where.

I am going to make a lash from the big saw briars in the yard but it will probably just be for show.

As for the "whippy parts" the rubber bands I used were used in a factory and I just came across them by luck. The largest rubber bands you can find could be tied together to make them longer and the knots would add a little. But don't limit yourself, anything that can be swung can be a lash. bind together lengths of extension cord, or ooh, what about black rubber hose, like quarter inch or so. Or catheter tubes, or the rubber tie offs they use when they take blood.

LOL I am continually at these places working out all my new projects. LOL Besides standard hardware and wood for things like St. Andrew Crosses and Horses. There are weight bearing Eye Bolts, Clips, and dozens of unique materials for standard bondage toys. I have used stainless tig wire for a nice flogger style switch. aswell as the heavy mixing sticks and some sand paper for an abrasive paddel. I am currently working on a a Copper Wire horse hair flogger that is proving promising. LOL I also like to use Jo-Anne's Fabrics as well. lol There is no safe store from my perversion. LOL LOL LOL LOL >;]

Most hardware stores sell rubber or plastic hosing for water line repair work.

Buy the rubber tubing, cut it in half or quarters (or thinner strips if thats what you prefer) down the length.

Set the top edges together, use a piece of beading wire (the thin wire) to wrap around the top.

Wrap the top in either black electrical or duct tape.

It works very well.

Go to page 1526 and look for pallet banding. You will find rubber bands with enough size to make an elephant notice if you snapped him in the ass with one. they are of similar size and strength to the Jump-stretch bands I use for exercise (and are too expensive to cut up).
