Will this madness ever end???

This time it's our daughter. Sleepy, achy, bad cough, no temperature and only a moderate sore throat but it's surprisingly red with lots of white.

We almost didn't take our son in because he had the same kind of "unremarkable" symptoms a few days ago (doctors called it unremarkable - of course his throat wasn't white). But he cultured out as strep. As soon as the pediatrician's office opens I'll call but I wonder if they'll even want to see her. They may just call in an antibiotic prescription because of our recent family history.

The best part? My throat is sore too.

The strep screen is negative.

They'll continue to grow the culture and will let us know in 24 hours if it shows up as strep.

This happened last year with the same child. Strep didn't show up until the next day (and she was actually back in school).

*sigh*

Oh, well. I just fed her egg drop soup and sent her off to bed.

She says she feels a lot better but I think that's just because the throat culture is over.
