Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund

I am going to say something very un-PC. The loss of life at Virginia Tech was tragic and senseless. I am certain the students, faculty, staff, and families are in a tremendous amount of pain. But, the pain they feel is no greater than the pain of families who have experienced losses due to drunk driving, terminal illness, or an industrial accident. Joe Schmoe's widow and children still have to make ends meet but rarely do we see an effort to help them out.

I would like to see people who are not affiliated with VA Tech donate to a local family or cause. It can be done in the Hokie Spirit while making a difference locally.

WD, I am not slamming you for posting the link..this is just an issue that weighs on my mind at times like this.

On a related note, if I hear one more jackass make a comment about how the students should have rushed/jumped/stopped the killer I am going to scream. Morons!

On a related note...

This moron killed 32 young folks at a college, and the world is appalled!

George Bush is responsible for the deaths of 100 times that many young US soldiers (and counting), and countless others!

At least Cho killed himself too!

<Sorry, I could not resist!>

I applaud any effort to help with the survivors of any tragedy, I have suffered losses close to me in a widely publicized tragedy too. I do understand the sentiment that less publicized losses get no such support, and I have now good answer for it...

LOL ... i think they subscribed to an alternative of RACK. Let's see ... Risk Aware But It Doesn't Give A Shi‘ite. Yeah, that works.

Ok

I should have known better than to take away from the meaning of the OP. I apologize for that.

I will not debate the foolishness of our government not having any rational plan after taking out the ogre that Saddam was...

I would plead that we keep in mind the families of the deceased, in this tragic event, the 'war' in Iraq, and as callinectes reminds us, all the tragic losses that do not get the press.

I contribute to the http://www.wffoundation.org/ myself, because it is near and dear to me, and the losses I have suffered... but any org that truly helps the survivors of tragic events should be remembered.

Or give money to the Woodhull Freedom Foundation and/or National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. They are both fighting for the same thing, rights of Americans in the realm of sexual freedom.
http://ncsfreedom.org/
http://woodhullfoundation.org/

And this is coming from somebody who was touched by VT, so don't think I don't care about that. I just wanted to mention these two charities as well.
