Well, the hockey season is winding down here in Minnesota...true, we can watch all those other professional teams kick butt, however, it's just not the same as having your own team. (If you will recall 1993 when we lost our team to Dallas...*waaaa*)

The dynamics here are hilarious...4 of the top 10 colleges in the WCHA are from Minnesota. My family cheers for the Univ. of Minn. (Twin Cities)

Last night the Univ. of Minn. (6th place) won over Minnesota State (4th place) in the Final Five tournament. This pleases me. We go on tonight to play Wisconsin (1st place) Please cheer us on!!!

This is such an exciting tournament, and by all rights we shouldn't even be in it, but a fantastic weekend (last week) against Colorado College brought us into this tournament, and I have full confidence that we can pull out a win.

In 1970, we ranked 5th in the WCHA and took the whole tournament. This year, 30 years later, we have a chance to make history again as the lowest ranked team to take the whole thing.

Woo-hoo!!! I know this all means nothing to you, but I am so excited...I could barely sleep last night. I am a total hockey nut, and can't wait until fall when we have a pro hockey team again.

The Wings are no better...we watched a game the other night and all Yzerman did was whine and bitch. You get these guys in a "power" position and they think they are God's gift. My brother can play better than half those guys...hell, my 5 year old probably could. I'm thinking Toronto for the Cup. CuJo is awesome!!!

On a sad note, the U of M lost last night, which means we play for 3rd place today.

As you know only thing to do in Minnesota in the winter is have sex ,smoke pot ,and play or watch hocky.Gotta love it.
Now what is with the new team?? Minnesota Wild. everyone knows the only thing wild are the blue haired old ladys driving to the bakers square for their peice of pie and cup of coffee. Don't get in their way or you are likly to be squashed.

Believe me, I had nothing to do with the name "Minnesota Wild". Trust me on this. I don't know what is so fucking wild. My impression of the whole thing was this...they put out a list of names and people were supposed to vote on them. How on earth this one won, I will never know.

LMAO...My fondest memory of the Minnesota North Stars was the way the curled up and died during Game 6 of the '91 Cup Final. Pens 8 Stars 0.

LMAO....Good question, Laurel. I go to between 10-15 games a year, and I can honestly tell you (at least from what I've seen), that about 2/3 of NHL Referees don't know the answer to that question (or many others having to do with the Rules) either. It seems the two most popular chants you here from the crowd here in the Burgh are: 1) "LET'S GO PENS!!" and 2) "BULL - SHIT!!"

Now... Hockey, being a player, is one of my obsessive things. The Anti-Flyers guy is right, The Flyers have the two most overrated power forwards on their team. Im an avalanche fan... also a Calgary Fan. Im gunna say, with Bourque at the Helm... This is the first time the Avies have had a Great Chance at winning, in the last few years. They needed grit, they got it. They needed another solid defenseman, they got it. Now its time for them to shine.. GO Avies!

Sammyjo....Sorry about the North Stars but I am from Dallas and a huge Stars fan and hockey nut from day one. I used to have to watch the Blackhawks on ESPN before we had a team. The Stars have done so much for sports and hockey in this town. They can not build new rinks fast enough for the Junior leagues here. I love College hockey too and know that is what Minnesota really loves. By the way everyone....THE STARS WILL WIN THE STANLEY CUP AGAIN!!
