I just got home from work a couple hours ago. I had to hitchhike 25 miles down a road through dense woods on a Saturday morning in 10 degree weather. Most of the traffic was going the other way.

I can understand a woman alone not stopping for a hitchhiker, but when a guy in a pickup just blows by, I get a little frustrated. This isn't the Cross Bronx Expressway here. There is not a lot of carjacking going on in Vermont.

When I have both of my vehicles running, I always pick up hitchhikers. I have had enough experience hitching myselfto know how it feels to be standing beside the road and not having anyone be kind enough to stop.

What about you? Do you ever hitch a ride? Do you pick up hikers? Has anyone here ever been harmed or threatened by a hitchhiker?
