I'm in the middle of a story centered on an operahouse and in my research this lovely spitfire of a woman popped up.
Julie d'Aubigny, known as La Maupin, was quite the terror in her day. Living and loving as few women did, circa 1700.
Lots of inspiration here, especially if you like historical erotica.

Ah yes, the patron saint of bisexuals and the inspiration for many DnD bards, lol. I adore her. I’m actually frustrated she hasn’t gotten out into Fate Grand Order as she would fit right in.

I did actually briefly consider writing a nonerotic story where she would be a side character: after her death she would be sent to another world and given the promise of reuniting with her beloved Madame Florensac if she assisted the main character in a completing a quest

What jumped up at me, was
La Maupin retired from the opera and took refuge in a convent where she is believed to have died in 1707 at the age of 33.

While 33 might well be not far from average lifespan around that time and whereabouts (without going to look it up, so such guess may be majorly wrong), it by means was necessary the destiny.

She was known for masquerades and had ran from several crimes, just by the Wikimedia article, I think there's lots of possibilities for fiction assuming she faked her death to once again escape from a convent for the next series of mature themed adventures in her maturity. Even if it would be somewhat strange for her to abandon her singing skills... she would be instantly recognized, right?

she would be instantly recognized, right
That would really depend. There's no real mass communication in the early 18th century, and only a particular class of people would have been able to go to one of the balls where she performed. If this idea takes place years later, even if it's the same location, these people would be relying on years' old memories of a woman they saw maybe once or twice.

Was going to do a new thread but then I remembered this one so I’ll pitch a few ideas here:

1. La Maupin reborn in the modern day:

Protag has lived her life pretty plainly. She picked up martial arts as a kid and even learned some fencing by watching vids online but while a little quirky and maybe a bit too into drama club, she seemed like she just would float through life…then she had her first crush and everything changed.

Suddenly she feels passion like never before, she doesn’t just want to love, she wants to feel a passion that would incinerate her. She doesn’t want to shine on stage: she wants to explode. And she wants to live life wildly…for she is the reincarnation of La Maupin.

So story would follow her reincarnation as she navigates a world where her antics are caught on camera

2. As @LupusDei pointed out . She is believed to have died. What if she faked her death and then went on an inter-continental affair, adopting new identities having passionate encounters all across the world?

3. Isekai. I proposed one above but a more erotic one would be easy. After all, she inspired many a DnD Bard. D’abigny wakes from her death in another world, fittingly in a tavern. Sullen at the loss of her beloved, she prepares to die of hunger again…and then she spies an attractive adventurer and falls head over heels for them. Lying about her skills, she goes on one adventure to the next, causing as many problems as she solves.

For example:

Julie: Adieu! *pulls her rapier out of the orc chieftain*

Orc: At least I got to see a vision of true beauty before I died.

Julie: “oh? And what would a rude man such yourself know of beauty?”

Orc: *fainting* A gorgeous woman with a fiery passion and skills in combat that make her deadlier than any man I have ever met? What else could I call that but beauty? *starts choking as a health potion is shoved down his throat* WHAT the hell?

Julie: Forgive me, Mon Cheri, I have a habit of letting my temper get away with me. To think the soul of a poet with an appreciation of true Beauty was hiding in this…deliciously athletic body. Besides…I saw a pair of lovely green women who were at the verge of tears. It’s too lovely of a day for bloodshed.

Orc: oh, my wife and daughter?

Julie: my, my. Why don’t we make amends and I can show you and your wife something far more fun than a village to ravage?

Cleric: HELLO, we are still being held prisoner!!!

Julie: excuse me Mon Ami, I will discuss your release with my new friend and his lovely wife and daughter. What’s another day in the stocks? A good time, I always say!

4. A time traveling sex tourism industry.

Sorry, but this got me thinking about that.
