I'm in the middle of a story centered on an operahouse and in my research this lovely spitfire of a woman popped up.
Julie d'Aubigny, known as La Maupin, was quite the terror in her day. Living and loving as few women did, circa 1700.
Lots of inspiration here, especially if you like historical erotica.

Ah yes, the patron saint of bisexuals and the inspiration for many DnD bards, lol. I adore her. I’m actually frustrated she hasn’t gotten out into Fate Grand Order as she would fit right in.

I did actually briefly consider writing a nonerotic story where she would be a side character: after her death she would be sent to another world and given the promise of reuniting with her beloved Madame Florensac if she assisted the main character in a completing a quest

What jumped up at me, was
La Maupin retired from the opera and took refuge in a convent where she is believed to have died in 1707 at the age of 33.

While 33 might well be not far from average lifespan around that time and whereabouts (without going to look it up, so such guess may be majorly wrong), it by means was necessary the destiny.

She was known for masquerades and had ran from several crimes, just by the Wikimedia article, I think there's lots of possibilities for fiction assuming she faked her death to once again escape from a convent for the next series of mature themed adventures in her maturity. Even if it would be somewhat strange for her to abandon her singing skills... she would be instantly recognized, right?

That would really depend. There's no real mass communication in the early 18th century, and only a particular class of people would have been able to go to one of the balls where she performed. If this idea takes place years later, even if it's the same location, these people would be relying on years' old memories of a woman they saw maybe once or twice.
