To answer your question, the easiest way is if the photo is online, left click and select Copy Image Link. Then when you prepare to post on Lit, click the above image button (it looks like a yellow postcard with a stamp and a mountain range on it). Paste your copied image link, then click OK...

That's odd... I used an iMac and it works fine... I don't have an iPad, but if you call up the contextual menu (would it be a single long press?), that should have the Copy Image Link option...
