Hastings St. is pretty much a divey type area now...the drug dealers and hookers hang out in the downtown area of Hastings.

Other than that, it depends on where she is staying as to where she eats. Yaletown (near the Expo86 site) has a whole bunch of cool places.

Alot of the downtown eastside section of east hastings is very bad, but dont let the previous suburbanite scare you too much

Further east on East Hastings...much further, past commercial...are many a cool market

For shopping I recommend Commercial Drive, unless she is a flashy rich tourist then go to down to Robson with the rest of the yuppie luv childes.
