Are they still up and running? I heard today that most all of them are pay now.

Anyone help me out here?

Are you talking service like Napster?

Try Kazaa .. much better! Can find music and movies!

Bearshare is what I used back when I was downloading them. Is it still around?

WIZZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

K, bye. Im backing out of your thread now.

Bearshare is around, and I was a user of that until a week ago when a friend suggested Kazaa - and from all aperances it's much better.

Kazaa uploads spyware and adware with the .exe you need to access it. It's in the TOS, actually.

Kazaa sucks ass.

ive used morpheus thats free and seemed ok i dont think it has any spyware either ... although i could be wrong :) (its happened before)

You can still download free music on IRC (internet relay chat). MIRC has a free trial version. Do a search of channels for MP3.

i use limewire, which sucks but.. *shrugs*

try this site if you like techno... its remixed video game music.... some of it is really good stuff

:D

edited because i forgot to mention that it is free...

Aww damnit.. I knew being able to get files I couldn't find with Bearshare was too good to be true!

You can get Kazaa-lite which is a rip off version of kazaa without the Ads and spyware.

Kazaa is cool because it download from multiple users at once to get the best speed and it will also resume a download if you dont finish it today (which is great if you are downloading a DVD-rip of the Matrix or something)

www.kazaalite.com

bearshare and limewire stunk as far as im concerned

morpheus does that too :p

i like mp3's but i still prefer to buy albums though :)

Actually, Kazaa, Bearshare, and Morpheus all throw spyware on your machine. I avoid'em like the plague.

morpheus is kazaa...i think they merged

but yeah, if you like the mp3 BUY the CD (this message was brought to you by your local ASCAP dealer)

Bearshare I was sure had spyware because of the ads that always pop upwhen you start it up.

No doubt. I don't know how you couldn't buy the CD if you like a song or two from it. Most CD's now come with bonuses and little extras anyway.

Bbb , How the hell are ya haven't caught up with you online in ages hope everything is cool

Ok folks I oof to see what I can come up with thanks for all the info.;)

I use bearshare, you have the option not to install the spyware apps, and as far as I know, it doesn't send anything back to bearshare, it just delivers ads.

try kazaalite. I run anti-spyware programs and I have not had anything come from kazaalite that is spyware.

I use WinMX and Kaaza lite also. But kazaa lite wants me to upgrade and I haven't bothered with it yet.

*Shameless self promotion moment*

There are 3 free songs linked to my sig...

I haven't updated to the latest version of KaZaA, but when i first installed, I also downloaded a fake DLL to kill the ads and spyware. It worked like a charm.

I'll stick with Kazaa, download anything I want or have ever looked for and close a few pop ups, shit happens. If a program can help me find a DVD rip of 'Fast times at Ridgemont High' i'm all for it :)
