Tell us all about your 21st.

As for me.... I was in college in Tallahassee. The drinking age was 19 at the time so it was not such a big deal... but it was in a way because 21 is such a defining year for most people.

I was a waiter in a restaurant. I didn't have to work so me and my roommate went up there to get faced. After everyone got off we all went to the Grande Finale on Tennessee St.

On the way home I got pulled over for driving the wrong way on a one way street. I was driving a gold VW Golf with Texas tags. I think I got the cop confused. My drivers license said I was from Jacksonville, the car's tags were from Texas, and my parents were in Louisiana. I was falling down drunk. He asked me if I was on my way home. Of course I was.

I don't remember if he noticed it was my 21st birthday.

I really don't remember much after that. :)

Well, I heard it was your niece's 21st birthday and yall were gonna hang out.

Get her toasted, Amelia, and bring her to lit so we can all sodomize her. LOL

My 21st landed on a Monday night. Since I'm the baby of the family, my Dad wanted to buy me my first legal drink. So, I went to a bar with my Mom, Dad, one of my brothers and his wife. My mom spent most of the two hours we were there telling me why I shouldn't drink, my brother telling stories about how my siblings got me drunk first when I was 13, and my Dad laughing at all of this.

Thank God I had a second bar round.

After I got home at the depressing hour of 8pm, I had a few messages from some friends asking me if I wanted to go out and celebrate that night. Needless to say - this round was much more interesting, and a lot less annoying than the first. At one point I actually did some kareoke.. I'm sure I looked very amusing drunk as fuck and singing Stand by Your Man

not 21 yet but i'll read the replies here to see how to celebrate it and how not too :)

it is her b-day..but i won't be bringing her to lit...she's not ready :)

we're gonna go shopping, maybe see a movie..bar-b-que at her mom's...then drink some margaritas..i think.

kind of boring...but she doesn't live here anymore..and i miss her..so it's all about time spent together.

then her husband may take us out to a club and we might dance the night away...(that parts not settled yet)

I sat my final exam. Sort of sat there wondering what on earth I could say about a subject I had just discovered I knew nothing about.

Lunch time I started drinking.

Then stopped 'cause the licensing laws said I had to. Then started when the bar opened again.

Drank and drank.

I was really doing well. Nicely paced, feeling fine, not throwing them down to see how much I could drink in a day.
It was when the triple whisky arrived that the trouble started. I remember having three of them. Apparently there were four, but I don't remember anything after the third (probably just as well.)

The next thing I knew was waking up at 8.30 the next morning and thinking 'what am I doing here? I was in a bar a few minutes ago...." Pulling back the cover I found I was still fully clothed. Including my trainers. After the shock of being home I discovered that my head hurt.

After resting a little longer, I got up and went to the supermarket for a few things: milk, bread, paracetamol. In the queue, a woman looked at me and asked if I was all right. "Yes," I assured her, "overdid the celebrations last night, now I'm feeling a bit hung over..."

Turns out she was a recovered alcoholic, divorced from a violent alcoholic, and she proceeded to lecture me on the evils of drink and the joys of sobriety. Not the sort of lecture one wants with a hangover.

I kind of like this.

But Amelia has not shared yet. What happened on yours, hun'?

I spent it at Disney World with a bunch of friends from college on Spring Break. We were in Daytona, but went to DW for my actual birthday.

my 21st birthday was very boring. i was still in my super good girl phase. i don't think i had a drink. my sister always throws me a little party and we have a haunted house kind of thing at her house (but i can't remember if we did that year).

my 22nd birthday...that's a more interesting story..that's when the drinking, nipple piercing, girl on girl stuff began :)

Dirty laundry?

do you really want to know how I celebrated my 21st?

short answer and it's not fun.

I was in college so I know that for my 21st I took an exam, cause I had an exam every year in college for my birthday.

and then after school.....
I think I sat around the house doing fuck all, cause for some reason all my freinds and even my family has forgoten my last
8 birthdays.

Yep last time anyone remebered my fucking birthday was when I turned 15.

so thins year I'm not even going to expect anything of anyone.

When I was an undergrad, I always had exams on my birthday too (week before Christmas). And it always seemed to be at 8:30 in the morning. But the good part was, it was always the last one of the semester.

When I turned 21, the drinking age was 18, so I'd been legal for a while, and it was no big deal. I don't remember any specifics, but if it were a normal day, probably met some friends in the cafeteria, smoked a little pot, and went to the bar for the rest of the day. I do know I had just broken up with a girl-friend at the time and wasn't seeing anyone else yet, so there was no nookie.

My birthday is in July. I had graduated from college that June. I was working a graveyard shift in the middle of a string of eight. I was responsible and did not have a drink.

Damn.

I worked. My husband forgot till my sis called and ran out and got a CD he wanted (for my present). Ive never been a drinker, but it might have improved the night. :)

The drinking age was 18 when I was young, so I had already been drinking legally for 3 years. I spent my 21st birthday with a bunch of friends, drinking & dancing, which is what we did nearly every night. 21 wasn't a milestone birthday for me.

My 21st bday

was right before finals week back in college....this was
heading towards the end of my sophomore year.......

i remember getting into a very big fight the day before
my bday w/ my then boyfriend (long story!)........but the
day of my bday we made up, and he took me out for
Mexican food at this restaurant called Mexicali Rose.....and
there I had my first LEGAL drink...a frozen strawberry
margarita :)

Then again, even before hitting 21, I wasn't a big
drinker to begin with, if at all........but nowadays (now
at age 28) I can fully enjoy a drink or two.......but I have
never, ever been drunk.........though I've been told I
can get slap-happy, punchy, and tipsy. :)
